If we reduce daily garden watering, will fewer snakes arrive?

Yes, less irrigation means fewer rodents and insects, reducing snake attraction. But if the neighbouring villa waters heavily, snakes will still arrive from there. Smart efficient watering without excess is the answer.

How deep is the gap beneath the boundary wall and does it need filling?

The gap may be 15 to 20 centimetres deep, which is ample for snake passage. We fill it with soil or material that eliminates the safe passage, whilst protecting the wall foundation from pressure damage.

Do large trees in the garden shelter snakes by day?

Yes. Snakes may rest on low branches or shelter in tree root cavities where old roots have hollowed out. Trees provide shade and protection from predatory birds, safe shelter amid abundant rat and insect food.

Pesticide does not repel snakes. Prevention focuses on sealing gaps, controlling the rodent population and reducing excess water in the garden. Prevention starts internally, not from the outside perimeter.
