Wadi Uranah flows through the district carrying floods and water. Even in dry periods, water seeps from the wadi floor into surrounding soil. Moisture draws termites and makes them settle near the wadi.

Soil in the district is mixed from old farmland and new fill. Colonies in old soil may not die when new timber is placed above. Termites find the new timber and move into it.

How we work

Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

Al Aziziyah sub municipality runs from the Bin Dawood markets to the Al Hada road and carries pilgrim traffic to Mina. Hotel towers and furnished apartment blocks fill and empty with the Hajj and Ramadan seasons, and the kitchens, restaurants and markets along Al Masjid Al Haram Road and King Abdulaziz Road leave food waste at every peak. Southwards the fabric loosens into villas and planned streets in An Naseem and Al Awali, then Al Abidiyah's campus and the old farms of Al Husayniyah, where Wadi Uranah holds water after rain and farm enclosures shelter rodents and reptiles.

Questions about this district

Is a new house built on land that once had enclosures more at risk?

Yes, colonies in old enclosures beneath the ground may not die when new building begins. The new house sits directly above them. Preventive treatment before building would have been best, but after building the soil around the footing must be treated.

Does demolishing the old enclosures stop the termites?

Demolition stops visible colonies, but underground tunnels and colonies may persist. Termites may remain deep below and rise into new footings. Chemical treatment is necessary.

Is Wadi Uranah the main source of termites in the district?

The wadi is the main moisture source, not a direct termite source. Moisture from the wadi makes surrounding soil ideal for termites, but termites spread from old enclosures and damp soil.

Are villas far from the wadi better than those close to it?

Villas close to the wadi face higher moisture, making termite risk greater. More distant villas may be slightly better, but if built on old land, the risk persists.

Do seasonal rains cause additional damage?

Yes, rains and floods raise soil water levels temporarily, which may speed termite movement. Post-rain periods need regular inspection.

Should treatment of a new villa include treating neighbours?

If a new villa is built on land that once held colonies or beside old enclosures, joint treatment with neighbours may be better. Termites do not respect property lines.
