Cockroach control in Al Husayniyah Makkah

Al Husayniyah was farmland and orchards before it became a grid of villa plots reaching behind Al Awali towards Wadi Malakan. That agricultural ground kept its moisture, and old irrigation lines still run under the houses. So the American cockroach climbs up from damp soil and drains, while the German cockroach rides in with the furniture as families move into the new villas.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Husayniyah

In the newer villas of Al Husayniyah the German cockroach turns up near the kitchen, while the larger American one shows more in houses that back onto gardens and the bare plots at the edge of the grid. The method is set out in full on the full Cockroach control page.

The first reason

Farm soil under the villas

Before it was a grid, Al Husayniyah was irrigated orchards, and the leftover water lines and damp soil still lie beneath the houses. That ground moisture feeds the American cockroach, which climbs up from the soil and the drains rather than starting in the kitchen.

The second reason

A grid still being built

The district mixes finished villas, houses still being fitted out, and empty plots. With each move-in the German cockroach arrives hidden in second-hand furniture, boxes and appliances, then starts breeding in the new kitchen well before anyone notices it.

The third reason

The valley edge and open ground

The outer villas look onto the Wadi Malakan channel and the bare plots beside them. After rain, water collects slowly in the low ground, so cockroaches migrate indoors from outside, pushing in through doors and drains in search of somewhere dry and warm.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

Al Husayniyah's ground was farmland, and old irrigation channels and damp soil still sit close to the villa plots. Along the edges that back onto the Wadi Malakan channel, that ground holds water and stays humid after rain.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

The German cockroach usually reaches Al Husayniyah's villas with second-hand furniture and appliances brought in during a move, then settles into the warmth of the kitchen and breeds quickly near food and water.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The American cockroach here is tied to the old farmland: it lives in the damp soil, gardens and drains, and enters the edge villas near the wadi by climbing up through the gullies.

An oven and gas hob beneath wooden shelving

Appliance heat

In the newly fitted kitchens of these villas, the warmth behind the fridge, oven and washing machine gives the German cockroach a shelter it stays active in right through the year.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

In a new kitchen the gap behind the fridge is dark, warm and damp, and it is the first place the German cockroach hides before it ever appears on the worktops.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

A cockroach looks for water before food, and between irrigated gardens and small kitchen leaks Al Husayniyah offers plenty, so treatment starts by shutting off the moisture it depends on.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

One cockroach seen at night in a new villa kitchen means a colony is hidden in the cracks, because what shows in daylight is only a fraction of what stays out of sight.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

We bought second-hand furniture for our new villa. Will it bring cockroaches?

Often, yes. The German cockroach and its egg cases travel in drawers, upholstery and the backs of used appliances. Check each piece before you bring it in, and treat the kitchen at the first sign of a cockroach so it does not spread through the new villa.

My garden is on drip irrigation. Is that linked to the large cockroaches?

Yes. The big American cockroach thrives in the irrigated, damp soil around a garden, and moves in towards the house from there. We adjust the watering, treat the moist points and check the outside drains so it cannot find a way in.

There is an empty plot next to my villa. Does it matter?

It can be a source. The soil, rubble and moisture in a bare plot shelter the larger cockroaches, which move at night to the nearest villa. We focus on the perimeter of the house, the doors and the outside drains as the first line of defence.

My house is at the edge of the grid near the wadi. Does that make it worse?

The edges that back onto the Wadi Malakan channel are more humid, especially after rain when water collects slowly. That draws the American cockroach in from outside, so we seal the door and drain openings and treat the perimeter, not just indoors.

The house is still being finished. When should I treat?

Ideally before the furniture arrives. The fit-out stage exposes the cracks and the pipe runs, so we seal the cockroach entry points and treat the kitchen and bathrooms while they are empty. The villa is then moved into clean, with no early breeding behind the appliances.

The plot used to be a farm. Do old irrigation remains attract them?

Abandoned irrigation channels and soil that stayed damp under the grid give the American cockroach water and shelter all year round. We check the drains and gullies connected to them and treat the moisture points before it reaches indoors.

How much does cockroach control in Al Husayniyah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Husayniyah.
