Irrigated gardens draw ants from the hills

Each villa in Al Awali has its own private garden, and regular irrigation draws ants from the high ground and surrounding soil. Ants live in soil, grass and trees for weeks before entering the house, and the concentration of water in modern gardens is a direct cause of ant pressure.

The second reason

Foundations and walls are direct entry routes

The new villa stands on a foundation that may have gaps or damp patches. Ants crawl over the external wall and foundation and find openings and joints. Treating the house interior alone leaves ants entering constantly from outside.

Elevated ground and hills are a permanent source

The district was built on rocky high ground surrounded by the Muraykhiyat Hills and rough terrain. Massive ant colonies inhabit the ground surrounding the villas and move toward water and gardens.

An external treatment at the wall base and the openings, and we point out the cracks, pipe entries and any branch touching the building.

We come back once the bait has worked through the nest, check the trail is gone, and look for a satellite nest if a new line has appeared.

Sugar or protein according to what the workers are carrying, placed on the trail rather than near it.
An external perimeter treatment

A band at the wall base and the outside openings, with the indoor trail left unsprayed so it keeps carrying bait.

Questions about this district

Is treating the inside of the house enough or must the garden and walls be done?

Treating indoors alone will fail. Ants live in soil, gardens and the wall and enter the house daily. Treating the garden, walls, foundation and inside together prevents ants much more effectively.

Should a new villa be treated before I move in or after settling?

Treating the new villa early or immediately after moving in is most secure. The district is new and the soil is rich with ants from the surrounding hills. Treatment a month after moving stops ants before they establish in the foundation.

Do the ants in Al Awali come from the surrounding hills or from neighbouring villas?

Most come from the hills and the high ground around them. The district is new and the hills around it hold ancient colonies. Neighbours may contribute but the hills are the main source.

Does regular garden irrigation attract more ants?

Yes, regular water draws ants from long distances. If possible, reduce irrigation and target water at plants rather than saturating the soil. Treating the garden and soil reduces ants even with regular watering.

Should the villa be treated every year or every six months?

Is tiny red ant in the garden better or worse than large black ants?
