Questions about this district

If I treat my flat will it stop ants coming from my neighbour?

No. Ants travel between flats through shared pipes and wall gaps. The internal routes must be sealed first, then the ant trail followed to its source flat if possible, because ants do not recognise flat boundaries.

Must every neighbouring flat be treated at the same time as mine?

Not every neighbour needs treatment, but coordination is essential with any household actually harbouring ants. Sealing shared gaps benefits all residents, and ground floor shops need separate treatment because they are the entry point.

Why do ants return immediately after my flat is treated?

Ants living inside shared pipes and wall gaps were not exposed to bait, or fresh ants arrived from the shop below. Entry points must be sealed and treated, not just visible surfaces.

Can I seal gaps without a full chemical treatment?

Sealing alone slows spread but does not kill the colony already established. Bait must reach the queen, and sealing prevents new arrivals. Both steps are necessary because treatment addresses what lives here and sealing stops recruitment.

Is silicone and foam sufficient to seal gaps around pipes?

Silicone and foam block visible gaps, but ants find other routes inside walls. Sealing visible gaps complements chemical treatment and does not replace it. Internal routes through walls are not accessible from inside a flat.

If I stop spraying trails myself will the ants settle in one spot?

Spraying without knowing the species and nest location only splits the colony and does not kill it. Matched bait is the solution. The trail shows the source which must be treated, not deterred.
