Why they keep coming back in Khadra

Most of the bed bug cases we see in Khadra trace back to furniture carried in from a previous home rather than anything already living inside the new building. The method is set out in full on our Bed bug control service.

The first reason

Furniture that arrives from a cleared home, not a building's own history

Many families in Khadra moved here after an older home closer to the Haram boundary was cleared, bringing the same beds and wardrobes with them. The inspection starts with that furniture, because the flat itself has never been lived in before and carries no history of its own.

How we work

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Questions about this district

Does new furniture bought from shops on King Faisal Road need checking?

Factory new furniture does not usually carry bed bugs, but checking still matters if it travelled on a delivery truck that also carries second hand pieces, or if it sat in the shop's storeroom for weeks before it reached you.

Our block still has flats being finished upstairs, does that affect our check?

Yes. Workers and equipment moving between floors during finishing can carry bugs from a temporary rest spot into the flats already lived in below, so we check the shared walls and vents that connect to the unfinished floor.

Our children sleep over at relatives in Muad on school days, should we check their bedding?

Yes, any regular night away is worth a look at the school bag, clothes and bedding once they are back, especially with school this far from Khadra and the stay repeating more than once a week.

We move furniture across the vacant plot next door before settling in, does it need checking?

Yes, sitting outside even for a few hours can expose furniture to other stray insects, but it also gives us a chance to check it away from the flat before it goes in, which is easier than checking a bedroom once everything is arranged.

Construction workers next door rest in a ground floor room, does that raise our risk?

If that room shares a wall with your block or sits close to your entrance, then yes, it is worth an extra check, because temporary bedding used for a rest break can carry the insect even without anyone actually living there.

We moved here after our old home was cleared for the Haram expansion, does our furniture need checking?

Yes. The new flat itself carries no history of infestation, but furniture from the cleared home may carry eggs or live insects that travelled with it, which makes checking that furniture more important than checking anything bought new for the move.
