We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

The garden supplies food and water, whilst the roof provides a safe sleeping place away from predators and noise. Pigeons do not spend the whole day in one spot: they move between feeding, drinking and safe roosting.

Our apartment block has several roofs: some private to flats and some shared. Where do pigeons sleep?

Our plot sits slightly lower than the street level. Does that affect pigeons?

Slight slope does not matter much, but any pooling water or damp will attract pigeons. We ensure garden and roof drainage work properly to keep water from accumulating.

The neighbourhood is still developing and there are construction sites nearby. Will pigeons increase further?

Construction sites provide temporary shelter and food scraps. Once building finishes, pigeons move to completed homes and roofs, so treating the whole neighbourhood at once works better than one villa alone.
