Questions about this district

My home on the strip is shut between holidays, does that make it worse?

Yes. A kitchen closed for weeks gives cockroaches quiet and damp with nothing to disturb them, so they breed and the nest grows before you come back. We check the drains and appliances first, and suggest a follow-up visit to close off whatever hatched while you were away.

Do the big cockroaches come from the garden watering?

Usually, yes. The American cockroach breeds in the permanently watered soil, the control boxes and the palm bases, then enters the villa over thresholds and through air-conditioning outlets. That is why we treat the outdoor garden points along with the inside, otherwise it simply returns from the garden.

Does being right by the sea make cockroach treatment harder?

The coastal humidity keeps water sources plentiful, so cockroaches hold out for longer. It does not change the method, it widens where we work: we seal leaks and dry out the damp voids, then place bait where the cockroach drinks, not only where it feeds.

I moved new furniture into the flat, can they arrive with it?

The German cockroach usually travels inside furniture, boxes and second-hand appliances, and it is common in new flats that are furnished all at once. We check the drawers, the joints and the backs of appliances, and treat the kitchen focus before it spreads between units.

Can they move between flats through the shared drain pipes?

In the newer blocks on the strip, the shared vertical pipes run between floors, and the American cockroach uses them as a route. We treat the drain points and floor gullies and seal them tightly, so it cannot return from a neighbour's flat after yours is done.

The villa doors face the sea, how do I keep them out?

Outdoor cockroaches get in through threshold gaps, air-conditioning outlets and the rainwater drains that face the water. We find these entry points and treat them, and advise sealing the thresholds, because blocking the route matters more than chasing what has already come in.
