Every villa holds a wide garden with mature trees and irrigated green space. Pests hide under leaves, low branches and dense turf all day. Fierce midday sun forces them deeper underground and into vegetation where they are safe from heat.

The second reason

High boundary walls protect the villa but trap pests safely within it

Strong high walls protect against external pests, but they also protect pests already inside the garden. Scorpions that enter the garden are trapped safely within the wall where they breed and multiply.

Nearness to the Corniche keeps humidity high and sea moisture seeps into foundations

The northern coastal location keeps humidity high year round. Salt water from the sea may seep into foundations of villas very close to the Corniche, creating constant damp conditions underground.

We walk the boundary, the feed store, the pens, the water sources and the buildings, record the species present, the burrows, the entry points and every standing water source, and number the monitoring positions on a plan.

The piles, the rubble, the fallen dates, the feed sacks pushed up against the wall. On any large plot these gather simply because there is room for them, and clearing them brings the numbers down before a single product is used.

The perimeter band and targeted treatment

A band at the foot of the wall and the buildings, treatment into the burrows and cracks, locked rodent stations fixed along the route, and mosquito breeding sites treated in the water itself.

Scheduled visits and a sheet each time

We come back on an agreed schedule, read the same points, renew the band the sun and the irrigation have used up, and write down what was found, what was applied and where, and what the site needs closed.

Questions about this district

Our villa has a large garden. How do we control pests within it?

Large gardens need treatment at the wall base and the first garden zone, and around villa foundations. We cannot treat the entire garden because important plants and trees must be protected.

Large trees in the garden provide shade all day. Do pests shelter under them?

Yes. Deep shade and dense foliage offer perfect shelter for scorpions, centipedes and insects. These emerge at night and enter the villa.

Does our high boundary wall protect us from pests or does it trap them with us?

It protects us from much external pest pressure, but pests that enter through foundations or climb the wall are then trapped safely within it.

The sea is very close. Does this mean higher humidity and more pests?

Yes. Year round high humidity accelerates insect breeding cycles. Our treatment needs to be more frequent here than in inland districts.

Should we spray the entire garden or only focus on certain key points?

We focus on the wall base, foundations and main entry points. Full garden spraying could damage important plants and mature trees.

We tried shop bought pesticides but they do not work. Why not?

Large gardens and deep shade reduce the effectiveness of simple household products. Professional treatments lasting longer and applied more frequently are needed.
