Flea control in Al Asalah Jeddah

Al Asalah is a recently established district in far north Jeddah between Madinah Road and the Haramain expressway, close to King Abdullah Sports City. New villas and apartment buildings are still being completed across wide schemes bordered by Al Falah, Al Hamdaniyah, Taibah and Al Firdaws. Wadi Obhur crosses it and some streets remain unpaved. Why they keep coming back in Al Asalah

The first reason

Ongoing construction and neighbouring vacant land

Al Asalah is still under development, and vacant plots around schemes shelter stray animals and rats. Continuous building and open excavations provide shelter and food for pests. Completed new homes face pressure from animal fleas at adjacent building sites.

The second reason

Incomplete drainage and unpaved ground

Drainage is not yet complete in the district and some streets are unpaved, leaving excavations and gaps around foundations. These voids create flea pathways from soil to foundations, and moisture from incomplete drainage harbours fleas.

The third reason

Gaps between new homes and rapid resident turnover

New homes are spaced across wide schemes not yet built out, and gaps between them shelter stray animals. New residents arrive with second hand furniture from elsewhere that may carry fleas. Pre-occupancy preventive treatment is essential.

Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

Fleas returned one month after treatment despite a barrier around the house. Why?

A barrier reduces entry but does not stop it completely in a developing district. Fleas from neighbouring vacant land and contaminated buildings find other routes. Regular treatment and protection from new cracks are necessary.
