The dense Kandarah market and the storage spaces beneath the shops provide the narrow dark humid voids that fleas seek. This is not a clean home; fleas hide in cracks, corners and places the sun never reaches. Each item stored is a flea shelter. We locate warehouse infestations by their smell and by opening the space to air and light.

Second hand furniture is a daily flea vector

Shops buy and sell used furniture at speed. A sofa from a home to a shop to another shop to a home again. Pets come with goods. Each transaction is a chance to move fleas from place to place. We inspect all incoming items and isolate new stock until cleared.

How we work

Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

Fleas found in our warehouse. How do we deal with storage space?

Warehouses need a different approach from homes. We remove goods or arrange them for full access, then treat floor, corners, voids and foundations. After that we monitor entry and exit, because new fleas can arrive with new stock. Storage facilities benefit from regular preventive treatment.

Second hand furniture we buy from the market, could it carry fleas?

Very likely. Sofas, carpets and chairs sold in the souq may come from homes with flea problems. Inspect gaps under furniture and seams in cushions before bringing items into your shop. If you buy used furniture in Kandarah, handle it carefully.

How do we stop fleas arriving with new imported goods and stock?

Inspection on receipt is vital. Check boxes, cartons and sacks, especially lower corners and seams. Store furniture and textiles in dry, well lit spaces before display. Fleas avoid light and heat. Quarantine suspect items for a week in a bright area.

Are warehouse fleas different from the fleas in a home?

Same species, but the environment is completely different. Warehouse fleas live in voids, cracks and dark cool areas. In a home they cluster near animal resting places. Treatment strategy changes with the environment. Warehouses need access and thorough floor coverage.

Kandarah souq is centuries old. Are fleas permanently established in it?

The old souq and its underground storage have seen decades of goods movement and storage. Fleas may be entrenched in deep cracks and old walls. Treating the whole souq needs coordination with the municipality and all merchants together. Single shop treatment alone will not hold if adjoining spaces are untreated.

Do commercial warehouses need regular follow up treatment?

Yes, regular preventive treatment is essential. Warehouses receive new goods constantly, some carrying fleas. Regular monitoring and preventive treatment is cheaper than waiting for an outbreak and dealing with shutdowns.
