Flea control in Salam Makkah

Al Salam is a mixed residential district lying south of Al Sharai and inside the Haram boundary on Makkah's eastern growth front. Shops sit at street level with homes and flats stacked above them. The older planned grid sits beside active construction sites where excavation disturbs ground cover, and seasonal wadis cross the area carrying moisture after rain. A single flea problem in one home may originate from the shop below, the neighbour's flat, or from shared pipes running through the walls.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Salam

The old district is extremely dense, with shops, houses and flats sharing walls on all sides and stacked vertically. Fleas from a neighbour's home enter through window cracks and pipe openings with ease. The method is set out in full on our Flea control service.

The first reason

The ground floor shop may be a permanent flea source

The shop below may be a restaurant or grocery store hosting many customers. It may shelter a stray animal or harbour fleas from food waste. Fleas crawl from the shop through gaps in the floor separating them from the flat above, using plumbing holes and foundation cracks.

The second reason

Tightly packed buildings share drainage and plumbing

Older residential blocks touch each other and share sewage pipes, water lines and electrical conduits. Fleas from the neighbour's home migrate through these shared passages into your own flat without leaving the building.

The third reason

Seasonal wadis carry moisture that accelerates flea development

Wadi Mudarraja passes near the district and carries seasonal floods. After rainfall, moisture rises in the foundations and walls. Higher humidity shortens the flea life cycle and allows cocoons to mature faster.

Landmarks of Salam

The flat or villa in Al Salam stands between Engineer Omar Qadi Street to the east and Al Qadisiyah Road to the west, near Al Sahaba Mosque and Al Sawwat Mosque in the heart of the district where neighbours and family gather in the shared spaces.

The base of the carpet

Carpet pile in an old home is deep and harbours fleas from many years of occupation.

Where the animal sleeps

If the shop below keeps a stray animal or mouse, its sleeping places lie in the basement or dark corner.

A fine toothed comb on a white towel

Flea dirt

Flea droppings accumulate in folds of old furniture and thick carpets where they concentrate in dark patches.

The underside edge of a fabric sofa

Furniture edges and upholstery

Sofa and bed edges in an old home are extremely secure flea refuges.

Gaps between wooden floor boards

Joints in a hard floor

Floor joints between flats and the ground floor shop are the main flea highways.

Damp shaded soil beneath shrubs

Damp shade outdoors

Damp shade in a narrow back courtyard provides ideal outdoor flea habitat.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

  2. 2

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

  3. 3

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

  4. 4

    Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

What flea control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    Confirmation before anything is applied

Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

Carpet base and floor line treatment

A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.

  • A metal floor drain

    Shade and damp outdoors

The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

The source when there is no pet

Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    The vacuum schedule and aftercare

When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A follow-up timed to emergence

A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.

What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality

Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.

Questions about this district

The shop below us is a restaurant. Do food-borne fleas climb into our flat?

Fleas from rodents and animals harbouring in the restaurant enter the flat above. Drainage pipes and gaps in the floor between the shop and flat are easy routes upward.

Our flat shares a wall with our neighbour's. Do fleas pass between?

Yes. Shared walls and small cracks allow flea passage. Shared pipes between flats are highways for fleas travelling from one home to the next.

Our neighbour on the other side mentioned they have fleas. Will they spread to us?

Fleas from that neighbour's flat enter the shared walls and pipes. Treating your flat alone may fail if the neighbour remains untreated.

The neighbourhood is very old and walls are damp all the time. Does that worsen fleas?

Old damp walls provide ideal habitat for fleas and other insects. Higher moisture accelerates flea development and cocoon maturation.

Do we need to coordinate treatment with neighbours and the shop owner below?

Yes. Treating your flat in isolation may not succeed. Coordination with adjacent homes and the shop ensures fleas do not reinvade from neighbouring properties.

The neighbourhood is on the Haram boundary and building continues around the markers. Does this affect us?

Construction and excavation disturb the ground and animals. Creatures from nearby building sites may enter homes very close to the Haram boundary.

How much does flea control in Salam cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Salam.
