Fly control in Al Rayyan Jeddah

Al Rayyan lies east of the Haramain expressway between the air base bridge and Al Kawthar. The Al Thuraya and Al Sultan schemes form most of the district as apartment blocks, with broad streets and internal layout, but underground drainage works are incomplete and soil around foundations stays damp. Seasonal wadis Wadi Umm Hablain and Wadi Al Asla cross the low ground and pool water. This incomplete infrastructure and persistent moisture create a unique fly environment.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Rayyan

Drainage runs around foundations are incomplete, and soil stays permanently damp from groundwater seepage and water table height. Excavations hold water for weeks. The method is set out in full on the full Fly control page.

The first reason

Incomplete drainage works and open excavations

Open excavations and unconnected underground drain pipes collect water. All of these become ideal breeding grounds, and flies concentrate in the pits.

The second reason

Wadi Umm Hablain, Wadi Al Asla, and pooled seasonal water

The wadis carry seasonal flow, and the low ground collects it. Pooled water in gaps and pits after rain creates massive fly incubators.

The third reason

Vacant plots, dust and ongoing building traffic

Empty land and active building sites create open routes for insects toward homes. Constant dust and construction activity make the picture dynamic and complex.

Landmarks of Al Rayyan

Al Rayyan is readily reached from Air Base Bridge, the primary northern reference point. Al Thuraya Scheme and Al Sultan Scheme clarify the location within the district, and Al Rayyan Health Centre provides an additional landmark for scheduling treatment.

Where the flies are actually coming from

The district sits east of the expressway, on low ground sloping toward the wadis. Groundwater runs high in sections, and incomplete drainage means water persists.

A house fly on a window pane

House fly

House flies in Al Rayyan settle on damp ground and excavations, with numbers rising as moisture increases.

A metallic green fly on a wooden surface

Blow fly

Blow flies are drawn to the very damp environment around foundations and pits.

Over-ripe fruit in a wooden bowl

Fermenting residue

Fermenting residue in pooled water and damp soil provides continuous food.

Waste bins standing on concrete

The bin base

Pooled water in excavations and incomplete drain runs creates breeding habitat.

A floor drain grate set in tiling

The film inside a drain

Biofilm in pooled water and excavations accelerates larval development.

The service door and its mesh

Numerous openings and weak screens are the primary entry routes.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

What is different about Briman Sub-Municipality

Briman sub-municipality sits east of the Haramain expressway on Jeddah's north eastern edge. Its older quarters are planned grids of villas and walk-up flats, while the outer districts are new subdivisions still being built out. Seasonal wadis such as Wadi Umm Hablain and Wadi Al Asla cross the area, groundwater runs high in places, and drainage networks in the newer districts are incomplete, so soil around foundations stays damp. Vacant plots, live building sites and constant dust give crawling insects and rodents easy routes into homes, and the food outlets along the main arteries keep them supplied.

Questions about this district

Drainage is not yet complete. Should I wait until construction finishes before treating?

No. Treatment now is easier because excavations are open. Once building is complete, reaching the sources will be much harder. We recommend treating before work finishes.

Soil around the foundation is very damp. Does this increase flies?

Substantially. Moisture accelerates the fly lifecycle. Larvae prefer damp conditions and develop faster.

The wadis are very close. Do they bring flies from outside?

They can, especially after rain. But the primary source is usually local moisture and open excavations.

Are vacant plots nearby a source of flies?

They can be, but the priority is sources close to the flat and shared areas.

After treating my flat, will flies return from outside?

They can, because of local moisture and nearby excavations. Sealing openings and maintaining good screens is essential.

When are flies at their worst in Al Rayyan?

Spring and summer are worst, especially after rain. Periodic inspection before these seasons is worthwhile.

How much does fly control in Al Rayyan cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Rayyan.
