Fly control in Bayah Makkah

Bayah is a recently renamed scheme at the far eastern end of the Al Sharai sub municipality behind Al Mughammas, broad ground surrounding the bed of Wadi Al Sharai between Jabal Qardah and the hamlets of Al Mazr and Al Shubah. Residential plots are on the market with very little building yet and small farms line the wadi banks. Flies breed in vacant land, water pooling from the wadi and the small agricultural plots that dot the area.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Bayah

Fly breeding in Bayah occurs in open ground and water around the wadi, not in buildings or shops. The empty scheme is an infinite fly source from nature and the wadi itself. The method is set out in full on our Fly control service.

The first reason

Residential plots for sale without building are an empty breeding field

Bayah consists of plots for sale with almost no building yet. Exposed soil and water pooling in depressions and low ground provide ideal breeding environments without competition from buildings or organised drainage. Empty land is a pure fly farm.

The second reason

Wadi Al Sharai carries permanent water that provides both drink and breeding habitat

The wadi flows with permanent water that provides direct breeding habitat for aquatic and wild flies. Water pooling from the wadi in surrounding fields creates fly breeding marshlands. The wadi is the source of all flies in the scheme.

The third reason

Small farms along the wadi banks create a continuous source of fruit flies

Small farms along the wadi provide decaying fruit and permanent water. Flies breed in this agricultural setting and spread throughout the scheme. The few new houses face constant fly pressure from the farms nearby.

Where the flies are actually coming from

A new scheme on broad land around Wadi Al Sharai. Residential plots are for sale but building is very slow, and water gathers in excavations and low ground near the wadi.

A house fly on a window pane

House fly

House flies may not appear in empty schemes because food is scarce, but wild flies from the wadi are drawn to new houses seeking water.

A metallic green fly on a wooden surface

Blow fly

Blow flies and fruit flies are drawn to small farms along the wadi, then spread to surrounding vacant plots.

Over-ripe fruit in a wooden bowl

Fermenting residue

Fermenting residue from fruit and plant matter in small farms provides fly food.

Waste bins standing on concrete

The bin base

Bins may not exist in empty schemes, but pooled water is the primary fly source.

A floor drain grate set in tiling

The film inside a drain

Biofilm forms in collected water and excavations where water stands, and flies breed in this water.

A metal service door on a building exterior

The service door and its mesh

The service door of a new house must be sealed because external flies will constantly attempt entry.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

The character of Bayah

New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes

Bayah is an emerging scheme with plots for sale and almost no building yet, so fly control must focus on the ground around the new house more than the house itself, because the primary fly source lies outside in open vacant land and not within.

Questions about this district

Are vacant plots for sale a continuing source of flies throughout Bayah?

Yes, empty open ground is a continuous fly source. Damp soil after rain and water pooling in excavations provide ideal breeding habitat without any barriers or organised services.

Is treating a new house safe if vacant plots sit immediately beside it?

Treatment is safe, but with vacant plots nearby, flies return easily from outside. Treating the house and surrounding areas together works better than treating the house alone.

How many treatments per year does a new neighbourhood with many vacant plots need?

An incomplete scheme with many vacant plots may need treatment every month or two during warm seasons. This decreases gradually as building and services are completed.

Is treating a new flat before the scheme is complete helpful or just waste?

Treating the new house helps but may need repeated treatment because the primary fly source is outside the house. Treating the surrounding ground area is as important as treating the house itself.

Is Wadi Al Sharai a never-ending fly source throughout Bayah?

Yes, the wadi is a permanent fly source year round because water flows constantly. Flies breed in the wadi and in pooled water around it, so wadi-driven fly pressure is continuous.

Can vacant plots near a new house be treated to reduce flies?

Treating the ground immediately around the house is possible and necessary. Full treatment of wide vacant areas is not practical, but treating boundaries and areas close to the house reduces flies significantly.

How much does fly control in Bayah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Bayah.
