Fly control in Hatim Makkah

Hatim is farmland and raw schemes at the far eastern end of the Al Sharai sub municipality, on both sides of the Makkah to Taif expressway near Al Hamidah hamlet. Farms and orchards line the bed of Wadi Al Sharai, watered by running springs and wells, with Jabal Laban rising to the east and scattered rural houses. Flies breed in running water and orchards and permanently damp agricultural soil around the wells and springs.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Hatim

Fly pressure in Hatim differs completely because orchards, continuous running water and agricultural soil form the only natural environment, like oasis farms in desert conditions. The method is set out in full on our Fly control service.

The first reason

Orchards and permanently running water are natural breeding grounds for fruit flies and palm flies

Hatim holds date palm and fruit orchards watered by running springs and wells. This environment is ideal for breeding of fruit flies and rural flies that lay eggs in decaying fruit and plant matter. Permanently running water means permanently damp conditions year round that support every fly life stage.

The second reason

Wadi Al Sharai carries permanent water and supports multiple fly breeding habitats

Wadi Al Sharai carries unclean permanent water from underground sources and agricultural drainage. The wadi bed holds plant remains, silt and water; all are fly breeding habitats for wild and aquatic flies. The wadi is an infinite fly source.

The third reason

Jabal Laban and the eastern Sharai lands are isolated from urban building

This area is far from Makkah's urban sprawl, so flies here are purely natural and rural. But orchards and farms create permanent breeding sources that may reach the few scattered farmhouses and wells nearby. Treating farms matters more than treating houses.

Where the flies are actually coming from

Farming land and well systems on the banks of Wadi Al Sharai at the eastern edge. Regular irrigation of orchards and running water from wells create permanently damp conditions that never fully dry.

A house fly on a window pane

House fly

House flies are rare here, but fruit flies and wild flies concentrate in orchards and enter any nearby houses, driven by fruit abundance and permanent moisture.

A metallic green fly on a wooden surface

Blow fly

Blow flies and fruit flies are attracted to orchards and decomposing fruit, and lay eggs in decaying fruit flesh with no shortage of breeding material.

Over-ripe fruit in a wooden bowl

Fermenting residue

Fermenting residue from fallen fruit and plant matter feeds larvae at high density, and orchard cleaning is essential before treatment.

Waste bins standing on concrete

The bin base

Bins may not exist here, but plant waste gathers in open places around orchards and becomes a fly source.

A floor drain grate set in tiling

The film inside a drain

Biofilm forms in stagnant water, wells and water channels where water collects, and flies breed inside these systems.

The service door and its mesh

The few house doors in the area must be kept sealed because flies from the orchards will constantly attempt entry.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality

Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.

Questions about this district

Is continuously running water from wells and springs a permanent fly source in Hatim?

Yes, permanent running water is an ideal breeding habitat for aquatic and wild flies. Larvae develop in the water and silt, and flies emerge constantly. Treating the water systems and well areas is essential.

Is rotting fruit in the orchards a primary source of flies in Hatim?

Yes, decomposing fruit and plant matter in orchards are ideal environments for fruit flies. Collecting fallen fruit and removing plant waste reduces flies significantly before chemical treatment begins.

Can farms and orchards be treated separately from houses as a distinct operation?

Yes, separate treatment is both possible and very necessary. Large farms may need special treatment for soil and water. The few scattered houses may need separate treatment because the primary fly source is the farms themselves.

How many times per year do farms and orchards in Hatim need fly treatment?

Farms may need seasonal treatment or every three months during warm seasons when breeding is active. Scattered houses may need less frequent treatment if farm treatment is done regularly.

Does contaminated irrigation water increase fly problems in Hatim?

Yes, unclean water from irrigation and wells provides a rich organic environment for fly breeding. Improving water hygiene and filtration reduces flies before any chemical treatment is attempted.

Is fly control in Hatim worse than in urban neighbourhoods?

Hatim has completely different fly sources. Urban neighbourhoods have shops and shared drainage; Hatim has orchards and running water. The Hatim problem is deeper because it is natural and seasonal, not urban and manageable.

How much does fly control in Hatim cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Hatim.
