Fly control in Wali Al Ahd Makkah

Wali Al Ahd is a newly developing district south of Al Shawqiyah within the Haram boundary, with three storey apartment blocks and residential plots still being built. The fly problem stems from open building sites scattered among the buildings, from Jabal Thawr's rocky slopes that provide shelter, from new drainage networks still being extended through the southern fringe, and from excavations and standing water left by ongoing development.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Wali Al Ahd

During excavation and construction periods, exposed ground becomes small pools after rain, and flies develop in them rapidly. The method is set out in full on our Fly control service.

The first reason

Open building sites attract flies

Wali Al Ahd has several open construction sites; exposed foundations, excavations, construction waste and bin containers provide multiple fly sources.

The second reason

New drainage networks are incomplete

New drainage is still being laid and some areas lack proper sewage connection yet, so standing water becomes a temporary but serious fly source.

The third reason

Jabal Thawr provides permanent shelter

The rocky mountain surrounded by buildings offers safe refuge for flies in natural crevices and cavities.

Where the flies are actually coming from

Wali Al Ahd sits between Al Layth Road and the Fourth Ring Road, the district is planned but development is staged and ongoing, Jabal Thawr rises to its north east, and drainage systems remain incomplete in some areas.

A house fly on a window pane

House fly

The house fly in Wali Al Ahd is drawn to standing water from excavations and foundations, laying eggs in damp soil.

A metallic green fly on a wooden surface

Blow fly

The blow fly appears heavily on building sites where waste is present and spreads to nearby housing.

Over-ripe fruit in a wooden bowl

Fermenting residue

Fermenting residue from construction waste and worker food provides rapid nutrition for larvae.

Waste bins standing on concrete

The bin base

The bin base at building sites fills quickly from construction rubble and food waste.

A floor drain grate set in tiling

The film inside a drain

The film inside new drainage has not yet formed but external standing water provides breeding ground.

A metal service door on a building exterior

The service door and its mesh

The service door and its mesh in new housing are usually intact; outside pressure from construction is the real problem.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

What is different about Al Shawqiyah Sub-Municipality

Al Shawqiyah sub municipality runs south from the Third Ring Road to the city's edge on the Al Layth road and the Jeddah expressway. Planned districts such as Al Shawqiyah, Al Malik Fahd and Bathaa Quraish have wide streets, villas and apartment blocks, while schemes in Wali Al Ahd are being built out and informal housing in Al Ukayshiyah and Al Zuhur is being cleared. The vegetable market and livestock auction at Souq Al Halaqa, open construction sites, the rocky slopes of Jabal Thawr and sewers still being laid through the southern fringe offer exposed food, shelter and moisture.

Questions about this district

Are ongoing building sites the main fly source?

Yes. Excavations, foundations and standing water on building sites provide damp conditions ideal for flies.

Does missing drainage in the southern fringe increase flies?

Yes greatly. In areas not yet serviced by drainage, water stands stagnant and flies develop.

Is Jabal Thawr itself a major fly source?

Jabal Thawr provides safe shelter for flies but not food; the real source is water and waste in housing and construction.

Do new villas on Al Layth Road suffer less than apartments?

New villas may be better if built soundly, but their external environment is surrounded by construction sites.

Is treating a single flat enough or must the whole district be treated?

Treating one flat reduces its fly count, but external sources from construction and standing water persist; district treatment works better.

Does fly pressure in Wali Al Ahd vary by flat location relative to building sites?

Yes. Flats close to construction sites suffer higher pressure, flats set farther away may have fewer flies.

How much does fly control in Wali Al Ahd cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Wali Al Ahd.
