Why they keep coming back in Al Faisaliyah

The first reason

Aged pipework and horizontal voids between floors

Old metal pipes are damp and crusted, and the gaps around them are highways for insects between different flats. Fumigation must travel horizontally through floor voids as well as vertically, or insects simply relocate to the neighbour's flat rather than being eliminated.

How we work

Survey and sampling

We identify the pest and its stage, go through the stock, the racking and the corners, measure the volume, and establish whether the place can be sealed as it stands or a sheeted enclosure has to be built over the stacks.

Sealing and preparation

Sheeting sealed to the floor around the stacks or the room closed up, vents, drains and door edges shut, the area emptied of people and warning signage placed before anything is introduced.

The dose is calculated from the volume, the commodity and its temperature, and readings through the period confirm the concentration is still there at the end of the exposure and not only at the start.

Aeration, clearance and the record

Forced ventilation, then repeated readings until the space is handed back, and a report covering what was found, how the enclosure was built, the exposure period, the readings and what needs correcting at goods inwards.

Questions about this district

How do we handle flats where residents refuse to leave?

Fumigation cannot proceed without full evacuation. We explain to residents that the gas is toxic and departure is mandatory, and we help arrange temporary accommodation in a nearby hotel or secure place.

Is fumigating only the ground floor restaurant enough for the block above?

No, insects in the restaurant are connected to the block by gaps, pipes and service ducts. We fumigate the restaurant and block together, or at minimum the bottom three floors of the block alongside the restaurant.

What about pets and birds kept locked in flats?

Pets and birds must leave with the residents or stay with a trusted person. The gas can affect animals just as it affects people if exposure occurs.

How often must we repeat fumigation in this neighbourhood?

Restaurants and high occupancy quickly attract insects back. We may recommend repeat treatments every three or four months rather than relying on a single fumigation.

Can we fumigate two neighbouring blocks at the same time?

Yes, adjacent blocks are connected by streets and shared voids. Treating one may displace insects to the next. Coordinating the date across two or three neighbouring blocks is more effective.

Do furnished flats in the neighbourhood need special treatment?

Furnished flats house changing residents and may have old furniture from unknown sources. Fumigation applies to them as to any other flat, but furniture should be inspected for pre existing insect activity beforehand.
