Gecko control in Al Wahah Jeddah

Al Wahah is a relatively young villa district laid out to a regular plan east of Haramain Road and north of Palestine Road, with villas, apartments and wide gardens. Older popular districts and vacant plots surround it, and proximity to these older areas means steady pressure from rodents and insects.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Wahah

In Al Wahah modern villas are ringed by adjoining old districts, and rodents and insects migrate from the old areas into the modern villas. The method is set out in full on the full Gecko control page.

The first reason

Old adjoining popular districts supply pests constantly

Al Wahah is surrounded by old popular districts such as Al Harazat and Al Mahamid, and old districts have cracks, waste and high moisture. Rodents and insects migrate from old areas into the modern villas.

The second reason

Vacant plots and empty land disrupt the plan

Vacant and half built plots surround Al Wahah, and excavations and loose earth provide rodent habitat. Animals seek shelter and enter neighbouring villas.

The third reason

Wide gardens provide constant shelter

Villas in Al Wahah have large gardens with trees and irrigated lawns. Insects and ants live in the garden and the gecko comes to feed on them.

The character of Al Wahah

Villa district: private plots, gardens and a boundary wall to every house

Villa status in Al Wahah means each villa is separate with its own garden and boundary wall, but the pressure is constant from adjacent old districts, so treatment focuses on sealing every opening around the wall and garden perimeter.

Before treatment

The food, the opening and the crevice decide the method

Al Wahah sits on Haramain Road and Palestine Road, a relatively young district with regularly planned villas and wide gardens, surrounded by older popular districts and empty plots.

The house gecko

Geckos in Al Wahah migrate from adjacent old districts, hide in the gardens by day, then enter the villa at night.

An outdoor wall lamp lit after dark

Outdoor lighting

Outdoor lighting around villas draws flying insects from old districts and vacant plots.

An insect screen on a window, seen close up

Window mesh

Window mesh may have holes, and small insects pass through easily.

Air-conditioner pipes passing through an outside wall

The air-conditioner sleeve

Air conditioner sleeves may not be sealed, and cracks around them provide entry.

An electrical distribution board mounted on a wall

Meter boxes and electrical panels

Electrical panels outside the villa may sit close to the garden, and insects hide near them.

A garden wall with watered planting beside it

The garden and the irrigation

The garden supplies water, insects and ants, the gecko hides in the plants by day and moves into the villa at night.

How we work

  1. 1

Inspect at night and find the source

We come at the hour it is actually moving, and establish which wall face it is living on, which lights are gathering its food, the entry points and the crevices it wedges into by day.

  2. 2

    Treat the food source

We treat the flying and crawling insects on the wall faces, around the perimeter and around the lighting. Once the food goes, the wall stops being worth staying on.

  3. 3

Close the openings and clear the crevices

We seal the air-conditioner sleeve, screen the vents and drain outlets, deal with the underside of doors, and place a repellent in the crevices and behind panels so they move out before anything is closed.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the glued eggs have hatched, check the seals held, and re-treat any wall face where activity has returned.

What is different about Umm Al Salam Sub-Municipality

The Umm Al Salam sub municipality covers the east and south east of Jeddah along the Old Makkah Road and the Haramain Road. It pairs recently planned districts such as Al Wahah, Al Nakhil and Al Shuruq with popular districts that grew outside formal planning, including Al Harazat, Al Mahamid and Umm Al Salam. The older areas have ageing drainage, unpaved streets and vacant plots where building waste collects, conditions that suit rodents, cockroaches and ants. The newer areas are ringed by half built subdivisions and open excavations.

Questions about this district

Do old districts to the south supply insects to Al Wahah?

Yes, old districts have moisture and waste that attract insects and rodents. Animals move to Al Wahah because the villas are cleaner and have more food.

Is treating a villa enough if old districts are nearby?

Treating your villa stops geckos entering it, but neighbouring old areas supply them constantly. Treatment focuses on sealing every entry point around your villa.

Are new planned districts better than old popular areas?

New districts have fewer cracks but are surrounded by old areas. Old districts have more cracks but may need less treatment if they are isolated.

Does ant activity in the garden bring geckos?

Ants are gecko food, so more ants bring more geckos. Reducing irrigation that attracts ants reduces gecko numbers.

How often must we treat modern villas in Al Wahah?

Al Wahah needs treatment every four months initially. Pressure from neighbouring areas is constant but lower than in old districts.

Does treating a flat in a nearby popular district help Al Wahah?

Treating nearby areas cuts the pressure on Al Wahah, but treating your own villa is equally important for protection.

How much does gecko control in Al Wahah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Wahah.
