Gecko control in Thaniyah Makkah
Thaniyah is a rural area on the eastern fringe of Al Sharai, well away from dense building. Open hilly ground holds the hamlet of Abid Al Qurashi, ravines that drain towards Wadi Mudarraja and scattered rural homes. Geckos come from ravines, the wadi and wild plants, and homes are far apart so treating one house does not solve the gecko pressure across the settlement.

Why they keep coming back in Thaniyah
Geckos in Thaniyah exist throughout the rural landscape, coming from ravines, the wadi and wild plants, and do not end like dense districts because their sources are in nature. The method is set out in full on our Gecko control service.
Ravines, wadi and wild plants
Ravines feeding Wadi Mudarraja provide natural shelter for geckos and insects. Wild plants around homes feed small insects. Geckos move through ravines at night and descend to homes hunting insects and insect eggs.
Large distances between homes
Homes in Thaniyah are scattered widely, each surrounded by open ground and ravines. Geckos move easily between homes through open land. Treating one house will not stop geckos from other homes or from ravines and the wadi.
Seasonal moisture and flash floods
Wadi Mudarraja carries flash floods after rain and leaves moisture and silt in ravines and low ground. Moisture attracts worms and insects that geckos hunt. After each rainfall, a new wave of geckos arrives hunting insects.
The character of Thaniyah
Rural area: farms, open ground and scattered homes
Rural environment means geckos exist everywhere around the house, from ravines, the wadi and wild plants. Treating the house alone will not stop gecko flow from nature; regular treatment is what stops the problem.
The food, the opening and the crevice decide the method
On the eastern fringe of Al Sharai east of Uhud, well away from dense city building. Open hilly ground holding the Abid Al Qurashi hamlet, north of the Makkah to Taif expressway between Uhud and Al Hatim.
The house gecko
House geckos in Thaniyah hide in natural cracks and ravines and wild plants around homes, descending at night to hunt insects and worms.
Outdoor lighting
Outdoor lighting around the rural house attracts flying insects from the wild landscape and nearby ravines.
Window mesh
Window mesh in rural homes must be very fine because flying insects from ravines pass through coarse mesh.
The air-conditioner sleeve
Air conditioning and fan openings in rural homes may lack adequate protection. Geckos enter through these openings especially if they face the ravines.
Meter boxes and electrical panels
Electrical wires and meter boxes in rural homes are often unprotected. Geckos travel behind wires and shelter beside the meter box in dark corners.
The garden and the irrigation
Gardens and wild plants around the home provide water and insect food. Damp soil harbours worms and spiders that geckos feed on.
How we work
-
1
Inspect at night and find the source
We come at the hour it is actually moving, and establish which wall face it is living on, which lights are gathering its food, the entry points and the crevices it wedges into by day.
-
2
Treat the food source
We treat the flying and crawling insects on the wall faces, around the perimeter and around the lighting. Once the food goes, the wall stops being worth staying on.
-
3
Close the openings and clear the crevices
We seal the air-conditioner sleeve, screen the vents and drain outlets, deal with the underside of doors, and place a repellent in the crevices and behind panels so they move out before anything is closed.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back once the glued eggs have hatched, check the seals held, and re-treat any wall face where activity has returned.
What gecko control includes
-
A recorded night inspection
Wall faces, lighting, entry points and egg sites, all established before anything is applied.
-
Treating the insects on the walls
Targeted treatment around lighting, windows and the building perimeter, because the food is what keeps it there.
-
Placed repellent in the crevices
Behind panels, in wall joints and at the ceiling-void entries, where it sits out the day.
-
Screening vents and drain openings
Shafts, vents and the condensate outlet, which are entry points nobody looks at.
-
Aftercare instructions
Ventilation, what to cover, and the change to the outside lighting that stops the insects gathering again.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, a check on the seals and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district
Does treating one house in Thaniyah stop geckos from ravines and the wadi?
No, ravines and the wadi provide an endless source of geckos and insects. Geckos move through ravines and descend to the house through any small gap. Treating the house stops geckos inside it but geckos from ravines and the wadi will return.
Do insects from wild plants around the house attract geckos?
Yes, wild plants around the house feed natural insects, and geckos arrive where insects exist. If the house is surrounded by wild plants or ravines, geckos will always arrive because food exists constantly.
Do rainfall and floods increase the gecko problem in Thaniyah?
Floods carry moisture and silt and leave them in ravines and low ground. Moisture feeds insects. Every rainfall means a fresh wave of geckos days later because rainfall increases insects.
Do large distances between homes offer protection from geckos?
No, large distances provide safe routes for geckos to move freely between homes through open ground and ravines. Geckos travel unimpeded at night.
Does treating the garden and surrounding land stop geckos?
Treating the exterior stops insects on the surrounding land, but geckos arrive from ravines, the wadi and distant wild plants. Complete treatment includes the house and garden but protection from nature needs regular treatment.
Will the gecko problem in Thaniyah never end?
Geckos exist in nature permanently in such a rural setting, but regular treatment every two months stops the problem inside the house. Protection needs regular treatment and sealed gaps, not a single permanent solution.
How much does gecko control in Thaniyah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Thaniyah.
