Hotels and apartments in Al Taysir Makkah

Al Taysir lies west of the Grand Mosque, bounded to the south by Umm Al Qura Road, where multi storey apartment blocks and hotel towers for Umrah visitors line Al Taysir Street. The district mixes local permanent residents with seasonal guests, and this mixture creates continuous insect pressure during each Umrah season.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Taysir

Hotel towers receive new guests daily during Umrah season, and residential units may retain moisture and insect pressure from previous guests. The method is set out in full on the full Hotels and apartments page.

The first reason

Umrah season brings continuous pressure from new luggage

The district receives thousands of seasonal guests in hotel towers. Each new guest arrives from different regions, and luggage may carry insects from elsewhere.

The second reason

Dense hotel towers and high apartment blocks spread insects rapidly

Dense towers mean many adjacent rooms and shared pipes. Insects move between floors and rooms at remarkable speed.

The third reason

High humidity and proximity to the Grand Mosque complicate treatment

The area near the Grand Mosque has constant high humidity. The sacred mosque forbids heavy pesticides in immediately adjacent areas.

Landmarks of Al Taysir

Al Taysir is a crowded district near the Grand Mosque on Umm Al Qura Road and Al Taysir Street, where hotels and serviced apartments cluster in this sensitive location. Proximity to the sacred mosque restricts treatment options and monitoring methods.

What we check in the room, and behind it

A multi storey district west of the Grand Mosque lying close to it, bordered on the south by Umm Al Qura Road, with restaurants and shops on the main streets and hotel units above them.

A stripped hotel mattress with its edge piping visible

Mattress and base seams

Mattress seams in a hotel tower in Al Taysir may hold bedbugs from ten different guests in one week. Inspection and treatment must be daily in season.

A wooden headboard fixed to the wall behind a bed

The headboard

A headboard in a hotel tower needs careful inspection before every new guest, because the previous guest may have left an infestation.

An empty hotel corridor with guest room doors along it

The rooms either side

Adjacent rooms may become infested from one room at remarkable speed in a high tower. Shared pipes and ceiling and floor penetrations allow spread to happen very quickly.

A luggage stand and a wardrobe in a guest room

The luggage stand and wardrobe

A luggage stand and wardrobe in a hotel room may carry bedbugs from guest luggage arriving from anywhere in the world.

A small kitchen with cabinets and a sink inside a serviced apartment

The kitchenette in a unit

A serviced apartment kitchenette in Al Taysir may need weekly inspection even if in the same tower. A residential flat may keep one guest for weeks.

Industrial washing machines and linen trolleys in a laundry

Laundry and the waste room

The laundry and waste room in a hotel tower gathers linen and clothing from hundreds of guests. Daily inspection is necessary in season.

How we work

  1. 1

Walk the floor, room by room

We start from what the staff reported, open the beds, lift the headboards and check the rooms either side and the ones above and below, then mark each room as affected, adjacent or clear.

  2. 2

    Treatment outside occupied hours

Seams are vacuumed first, then steam or a targeted application goes onto the seams and joints, dust into the frame voids and behind the skirting, and gel bait through the kitchens and service areas. Nothing is broadcast over soft furnishings.

  3. 3

    Sealing, and the operating routine

We close the skirting gap, the pipe penetration and the gap under the service corridor door, then agree with the staff that linen is bagged inside the room itself, and what gets reported the moment it is seen.

  4. 4

Follow-up, and putting the room back

We come back once the remaining eggs have hatched, read the monitors and open the bed a second time. A room returns to service on the result of that inspection, and the room number and both dates go into the log.

What the hotel and apartment programme includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

A recorded room by room inspection

Beds opened, headboards lifted, neighbouring rooms checked, and the state of every room number recorded before anything is applied.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

Treatment of the beds and seams

Vacuuming, then a targeted application on mattress and base seams, frame joints and behind the skirting, never across the open surfaces of the room.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

Bait and points in the service areas

Gel bait and numbered monitoring positions through the kitchen, the stores and the service corridors, read and logged on every visit.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains, laundry and waste

Floor gullies, the grease trap, the laundry and the ground around the containers, because that is the source that renews itself daily.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Room release and staff guidance

What is covered and cleared before we go in, the ventilation time we set for each case, and what the staff look for when they strip a bed.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A timed follow-up and a room log

A second visit timed to the hatch, monitors read, and a record carrying the room number, the date of each visit and what was found.

What is different about Al Ghazza Sub-Municipality

Al Ghazza sub municipality wraps around the north and west of the Grand Mosque, from Al Shamiyah, Al Qararah and Shaib Amir round to Jarwal and Al Taysir. Large tracts were cleared for the northern expansion and the Rua Al Haram scheme, leaving excavated ground and open construction sites beside ageing blocks that now serve as dense seasonal lodgings in Jarwal and Al Taysir. Old flood paths still fall from Jabal Qaiqaan and Jabal Khandamah towards the mosque, and markets and eateries crowd Al Masjid Al Haram Road and Umm Al Qura Road.

Questions about this district

How does Umrah season affect hotel treatment programmes?

Greatly. Seasonal guests bring new insects daily. Strict prevention and daily follow up visits are necessary.

Does a residential unit in the same building need separate treatment from the hotel?

Yes. Shared pipes connect them but their programmes differ. The flat may need less frequent follow up than a hotel room.

Does proximity to the Grand Mosque restrict which pesticides we can use?

Yes. Areas immediately near the mosque forbid heavy or odorous products. We use only approved and safe materials.

How many rooms in one hotel tower may become infested if a guest brings bedbugs?

Five to ten rooms around the first room in a single week. High dense towers are extremely dangerous for spread.

Are weekly follow up visits enough in a hotel tower in Al Taysir?

No. Daily visits during Umrah season and weekly off season are the minimum.

How do we distinguish a residential unit from a hotel room in the same tower?

Residential units have fewer guest changes. Hotel rooms change daily. We concentrate follow up visits on hotel rooms.

How much does hotels and apartments in Al Taysir cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Taysir.
