How we work

Inspect and map the water

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality

Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.

Questions about this district

Our planned plot is vast and flood water collects after rain. Is there a solution?

Draining the plot and maintaining flood runoff reduces mosquitoes. Periodic treatment especially after rain is necessary, and clearing small gaps and channels helps.

Building excavations nearby leave water and mud. Do we need special treatment?

Active building leaves pits full of dampness. Periodic treatment and keeping neighbouring land and excavations dry reduce the problem.

Wadi Al Sharai beside the plot carries strong floods. Does treatment help or does water come straight from the wadi?

Treating the land round the villa is necessary to stop new mosquitoes arriving. The wadi itself cannot be treated but treating the surrounding environment is effective.

Small farms by the wadi beside us supply constant water. Does that mean more mosquitoes?

Yes, running water and permanently damp soil mean rising mosquito numbers especially in damp seasons. Periodic treatment year-round is necessary.

Must I stop watering my small garden during treatment?

Stopping watering for a period after treatment improves results. But in Barakah seasonal wadi water continues so light watering is acceptable days after treatment.

Is building work nearby or far from our planned plot?

Building is usually close and open excavations supply water near planned plots. Periodic treatment and coordination with neighbouring building reduces the problem.

How much does mosquito control in Barakah cost?
