Preventive treatment in Zamzam Makkah
Zamzam is a northern extension of Uhud within Al Sharai, lying on open hilly ground north of the Makkah to Taif expressway. The scheme is still being developed with only a handful of homes widely scattered, and small ravines descend towards Wadi Mudarraja. Pressure comes chiefly from wild insects in the hills.

Why they keep coming back in Zamzam
The high ground and small ravines offer natural shelter to wild insects that descend on new homes in certain seasons, driven by moisture and temperature shifts. The method is set out in full on the full Preventive treatment page.
Hillside terrain naturally shelters wild insects
Zamzam's free hilly ground provides a natural home for wild insects and reptiles. Small ravines are pathways that drain towards the wadi, and in rain seasons they carry damp and insects. The external barrier separates the home from this natural and shifting pressure.
Very scattered building means each home stands alone
A handful of homes spread across a large scheme means each one must have complete independent protection. There is no neighbouring protection to rely on, and every outer wall stands unshielded against pressure from the natural ground.
Seasonal rains and flash water change insect behaviour
The small ravines dry or flood with water depending on the season. This shifts insect and rodent numbers sharply. Monitoring points record these changes and steer the number of preventive visits directly.
Zamzam on the map
Zamzam sits about 2.5 km from Thaniyah and about 2.5 km from Uhud.
Open in Google MapsWhat a preventive visit reads
A scheme on raised hilly ground between Uhud and Wadi Al Jaranah, reached from Al Jaranah Road on its western side. Small ravines cut through the land and drain towards Wadi Mudarraja.
The base of the outside wall
The base of the outside wall on hilly ground may be rocky or uneven, so we level the area carefully and lay the band on solid clean ground free of debris and loose sand.
Gaps and openings
Gaps between the building and the hillside may be larger than usual because the ground is uneven, so we clean them carefully and seal large gaps.
Air conditioning condensate
Air conditioning condensate may leak without a system on sloped ground, so we trace where it flows and direct it away from the house base.
Floor drains
Floor drains on sloping ground may direct water towards the house or away from it, so we watch for this and adjust the external barrier to follow natural water paths.
Irrigation against the wall
Irrigation against the wall on hillside may cause runoff and constant damp, so we monitor damp spots closely and adjust the external barrier to avoid drawing insects.
The monitoring points
Monitoring points are read with greater precision on hillside to record seasonal shifts and the constantly changing natural wild pressure from the surrounding terrain.
How we work
-
1
The baseline survey
We walk the outside boundary and then the inside: gaps under doors, pipe runs, vents, condensate lines, drains, the bin area and the store, and we fix the monitoring points before anything is applied.
-
2
Close the routes
Mesh on the vents, the gap under the door dealt with, the sleeve around a pipe run closed, and water put back into the drain nobody uses. Exclusion saves a spray that would otherwise repeat forever.
-
3
The band and the placed product
A residual band at the base of the wall outside and around door and window openings, with placed product inside joints and closed voids where it is warranted, and no open spray across living surfaces.
-
4
The scheduled visit: read, renew, record
We read the points to see which side is under pressure, renew the band where sun or irrigation has taken it, aim the visit at what the coming season opens up, and write down what was found and what was used.
What the preventive programme includes
-
A survey, then a check every visit
Entry points, moisture sources and storage, recorded before anything is applied and revisited each time.
-
Monitoring points that get read
At the wall and floor junction, under sinks and in the store, checked on every visit rather than only the last one.
-
A renewed exterior band
At the wall base and around the openings, put back wherever sun or irrigation took it between visits.
-
Drains, water lines and waste
The water seal in the drains, the condensate line and the ground around the bins, which are the standing water and food sources.
-
Between the visits
What to keep dry, what to keep closed, and what is worth a call before the next date. Ventilation we tell you before the visit.
-
A scheduled visit and a record of each
An agreed date, what the points held, what was treated, and what changed since last time.
Landmarks of Zamzam
Work in Zamzam is organised around Al Jaranah Road from the west, which provides main access and defines expansion direction, and around Wadi Al Jaranah itself, which marks the northern boundary. These two geographical anchors guide visit scheduling and direct the team towards the scattered homes on the scheme.

Questions about this district
Does bare hilly ground around the home mean fewer or more insects?
Bare hillside offers natural shelter to hill insects and reptiles. It may mean far fewer than old dense quarters, but pressure is seasonal and may be abrupt in certain periods.
Do small ravines around the scheme bring insects and snakes from the hills?
Yes. Ravines are natural pathways for wild insects and reptiles. Preventive treatment focuses on entry points around the home and a strong external barrier that separates the hill from the house.
Do seasonal rains in the ravines drive insects towards the new homes?
Water carries damp and water insects and creates temporary breeding sites. Monitoring points read this pressure and increase visits before and immediately after rain seasons.
Zamzam is far from old contaminated quarters. Is that enough protection?
Distance from old quarters cuts urban insect pressure, but the natural hillside terrain provides a different wild source. The preventive programme adapts to this new kind of pressure.
Do the scattered few homes in Zamzam need different protection than dense quarters?
Very much so. Each home stands alone against natural ground pressure, so the external barrier must be strong and monitoring points must read more precisely.
How often do preventive visits come to a hillside scheme like Zamzam?
The schedule follows seasonal insect pressure, rains and damp, not a fixed date. On hillsides, pressure may spike just before rain and immediately after.
How much does preventive treatment in Zamzam cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Zamzam.
