Why a spray on a calendar is not prevention
Three reasons a repeating visit can look like prevention without being it.
The pressure is outside
Most of what gets in crosses the base of the wall, the gap under a door and the pipe runs. A repeated indoor spray passes over surfaces nothing lives on and leaves the route exactly as it was.
The residual has a lifespan
Sun, heat, irrigation and washing take the exterior band off, and a wall in full sun loses it before a shaded one. If the interval comes off a calendar rather than off the surface, a gap opens before the next visit.
Nothing was being read
Without monitoring points checked at each visit, the first evidence you get is a sighting, and a sighting means it started weeks earlier.

This is the line that actually gets crossed, and its condition sets how much band we lay and how long it holds before the next visit.
Gaps and openings
A rodent needs a gap the size of a coin and an ant needs far less, so exclusion comes before any product.
Air conditioning condensate
The tray and the drain line put permanent water against the wall, which keeps ants and cockroaches close no matter how often the spray repeats.
Floor drains
A drain nobody uses dries out its water seal and becomes an open pipe to the network, which is the commonest way the larger cockroach arrives.
Irrigation against the wall
Watering at the wall keeps the soil damp and washes the exterior band away, so either the emitter moves or the interval gets shorter.

The baseline survey
We walk the outside boundary and then the inside: gaps under doors, pipe runs, vents, condensate lines, drains, the bin area and the store, and we fix the monitoring points before anything is applied.

Close the routes
Mesh on the vents, the gap under the door dealt with, the sleeve around a pipe run closed, and water put back into the drain nobody uses. Exclusion saves a spray that would otherwise repeat forever.

Common questions
What is the difference between preventive treatment and treating an infestation?
A treatment chases something already inside. Prevention works on the outside boundary and the entry points before anything starts. On a preventive visit we do not spray everything by default: we read the monitoring points first and treat the side that showed activity, which puts less product inside the home than clearing a live infestation does.
How often do the visits come?
The interval is set after the survey, not before it. It gets shorter with a ground floor and a garden, irrigation running against the wall, a wall in sun all day where the residual breaks down faster, or a neighbouring unit with something active in it. It gets longer for an upper apartment with no planting and clean points two visits running. Businesses sit on a different footing built around a record of each visit, which is Annual contracts.
I have not seen anything. Do I need this?
The point is to know before you see. One insect crossing the living room usually means numbers have been settled out of sight for weeks; a monitoring point catches the first one that walks past. The pressure itself moves with the season: heat shortens the development cycle of crawling insects, rain brings the winged flights out and standing water produces mosquitoes about a fortnight later, and the first cool weather turns rodents indoors.
It came back after a treatment before. What stops that happening again?

Is the programme safe around children and pets?
Most of a preventive visit happens outside the living space: a band at the wall base on the outside, and placed product inside joints and closed voids rather than an open spray over floors and preparation surfaces. Monitors and bait go where a child or an animal cannot reach them. Does the programme cover the water tank?

What does a preventive programme cost?
It is set after the survey, because the figure follows the size of the place, the number of floors, how much perimeter needs a band, whether there is planting to work around, and how many visits a year we agree on.
