Scorpion control in Al Hajun Makkah
Al Hajun is an old quarter north west of the Grand Mosque, built around Al Mualla cemetery on the slope of Jabal Al Hajun. Old close set buildings cluster along narrow lanes with ageing services. The hill and cemetery provide a permanent natural reservoir of scorpions and insects. The geographical setting and age mean that gaps and fissures are very numerous.

Why they keep coming back in Al Hajun
Scorpions in Al Hajun are active year round because of the permanent proximity of natural sources in the hills and cemetery. The method is set out in full on the full Scorpion control page.
Rocky hills as a permanent source
Jabal Al Hajun and Jabal Al Sulaymaniyah stand very close. These hills are the natural home of scorpions and insects. Insects slip from the hills into the quarter especially at night. Scorpions follow them directly through narrow lanes and through cracks.
Old buildings and numerous gaps
The buildings here are very old and tightly packed with narrow lanes between. Gaps in walls and foundations are numerous and fine. Moisture from the cemetery and hills widens these gaps. The scorpion finds thousands of fissures to hide and move through.
Old sewerage network
The sewerage network here is very old and cracked. Water seeps from pipes and channels under streets and homes. Scorpions follow the moisture and the insects that live in stagnant water.
Al Hajun on the map
Al Hajun sits about 0.5 km from Al Bayban and about 1.5 km from Al Diyafah.
Open in Google MapsWhat we check outside before we go in
An old district on hillsides north west of the Grand Mosque. Buildings are close set and lanes narrow. Al Mualla cemetery and Jabal Al Hajun and Jabal Al Sulaymaniyah surround the quarter. Services and basic infrastructure are old.
Wall joints and boundary walls
Joints in old foundations and walls are fine and very numerous. Moisture from the hill and cemetery seeps through here and scorpions enter with ease.
Rubble and stacked block
Debris of old construction and broken stone surround the buildings, providing ideal shelter for scorpions.
Palm fronds and garden litter
Dead leaves and plant litter accumulate in narrow lanes and corners, where scorpions hide.
The gap under the door
Gaps under old doors are wide and stone beneath is uneven, and scorpions pass through very easily.
Irrigation and damp soil
Stagnant water from old sewerage and leaks creates permanent moisture around foundations, supporting many insects and scorpions.
The light by the door
Lighting at entrances and old street lamps attract insects, and scorpions arrive from the hill following them.
How we work
-
1
Night survey and perimeter inspection
We walk the perimeter after dark with an ultraviolet lamp, which makes a scorpion show up against wall and soil, and we record the harbourage, the ways in and how much prey is present.
-
2
Treat the harbourage and the building edge
Dust into the wall joints and the dry voids, and a targeted band tight against the foundation and around openings, because the material holds longer on a porous surface than on tile.
-
3
Close the ways in and remove the prey
A sweep under the doors, sealing where air-conditioning and drain pipes pass through, mesh over openings, and treatment of the cockroaches and insects it feeds on, so the reason to come in goes with them.
-
4
The follow-up visit
A scorpion can sit in its harbourage for weeks without moving, so the first pass does not always reach it. We come back to refresh the perimeter band and check what has appeared since.
What scorpion control includes
-
A night survey with an ultraviolet lamp
A walk of the perimeter after dark that fixes the harbourage and the entry routes before anything is applied.
-
Targeted perimeter and joint treatment
A band against the foundation, plus wall joints and cracks, never open floors or where children play.
-
Sealing openings and pipe entries
Drain openings, the points where air-conditioning pipes pass through, and mesh on shafts, which are the routes actually used.
-
Treating what it feeds on
Placed bait for cockroaches at entrances and service areas, because cutting the food supply reduces visits more than repeating a spray.
-
Aftercare instructions
What to lift out of the yard, where to move the outside light, and the ventilation time for your situation, which we give you on site.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, a refreshed perimeter band and a check of anything new around it.

Questions about this district
Is Jabal Al Hajun and Al Mualla cemetery the main scorpion source here?
Absolutely. The hill and cemetery provide ideal natural conditions for scorpions. Insects come from here and spread into the quarter. Old buildings and numerous gaps make entry easy.
Why are ground floor flats more affected by scorpions than upper floors?
Ground flats are closer to earth and gaps and moisture. Scorpions enter through foundation gaps and lower cracks. Upper flats are less exposed but not entirely safe if shared passages are not sealed.
Is the old sewerage network in the quarter the reason scorpions appear?
Partly yes. Old cracked pipes provide pathways for water, insects and scorpions. But the nearby hills are the main source and the sewerage makes the problem worse.
Is treating only my flat enough if the neighbouring flat is untreated?
Treatment protects your unit but neighbours matter. Scorpions move between units through shared passages and cracks. Coordinating with neighbours improves results.
Is treating shared corridors necessary or should I focus only on my flat?
Shared corridors are very important. Scorpions move through these passages from unit to unit. Treating both corridors and flat together is far better than treating the flat alone.
How many times yearly must a flat in Al Hajun be treated?
At least three times. The natural source from the hills and cemetery is permanent. Treatment in spring, summer and autumn is necessary to maintain protection.
How much does scorpion control in Al Hajun cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Hajun.
