Scorpion control in Al Zahra Jeddah
Al Zahra in north western Jeddah mixes shops and commercial spaces at street level with apartments and villas above, sitting close to the corniche, hospitals and a university campus. Scorpions enter through the shops that stay open late and climb to the residential units above through shared passages and vertical gaps that connect the floors.

Why they keep coming back in Al Zahra
Scorpions in Al Zahra usually arrive from the ground floor shops and the shared corridors connecting different residential units. The method is set out in full on our Scorpion control service.
Ground floor shops as the primary entry route
Shops stay open long hours and stock items attractive to insects. Scorpions follow the insects and hide in boxes and shelves, then climb via stairs, lifts and vertical pipes to the flats above, sometimes spending days in the passages.
Shared passages and communal areas
Common corridors, stairs and lift shafts create direct routes between shops and residential units. Insects move freely here and the scorpion follows. Gaps around water and electricity pipes provide additional shelter.
Irrigated green spaces around buildings
The district has regularly watered landscaping around homes and hospitals. This means permanently damp soil and dense insect populations. Scorpions arrive from these areas especially after evening irrigation.
The character of Al Zahra
Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them
The mixed character here has a specific meaning: ground floor shops are the primary insect source, and flats above are exposed to scorpion entry through shared passages and vertical pipes. Treatment must focus on this vertical connection between shop and residential units as a single system.
What we check outside before we go in
A fairly modern district of multi storey buildings, major hospitals and commercial courts. Moisture from proximity to the corniche and regular irrigation of gardens and green spaces provide ideal conditions for the insects that scorpions hunt.
Wall joints and boundary walls
Joints in concrete foundations and corners around vertical water pipes are poorly sealed. Scorpions settle in these gaps and move between floors with ease.
Rubble and stacked block
Building debris and leftover materials from maintenance and upgrades lie around the buildings, providing temporary shelter for hungry scorpions.
Palm fronds and garden litter
Dead palm leaves and debris from the regularly maintained gardens accumulate in corners and side passages, drawing insects and scorpions.
The gap under the door
Gaps under shop and corridor doors are wide due to poor maintenance, and scorpions pass through easily heading upward.
Irrigation and damp soil
Regular irrigation of gardens and fountains around buildings creates permanently damp ground, which means many insects and hungry scorpions.
The light by the door
Intense night lighting in shops and corridors attracts insects in large numbers, and scorpions follow them and hide in gaps around doors and windows.
How we work
-
1
Night survey and perimeter inspection
We walk the perimeter after dark with an ultraviolet lamp, which makes a scorpion show up against wall and soil, and we record the harbourage, the ways in and how much prey is present.
-
2
Treat the harbourage and the building edge
Dust into the wall joints and the dry voids, and a targeted band tight against the foundation and around openings, because the material holds longer on a porous surface than on tile.
-
3
Close the ways in and remove the prey
A sweep under the doors, sealing where air-conditioning and drain pipes pass through, mesh over openings, and treatment of the cockroaches and insects it feeds on, so the reason to come in goes with them.
-
4
The follow-up visit
A scorpion can sit in its harbourage for weeks without moving, so the first pass does not always reach it. We come back to refresh the perimeter band and check what has appeared since.
What scorpion control includes
-
A night survey with an ultraviolet lamp
A walk of the perimeter after dark that fixes the harbourage and the entry routes before anything is applied.
-
Targeted perimeter and joint treatment
A band against the foundation, plus wall joints and cracks, never open floors or where children play.
-
Sealing openings and pipe entries
Drain openings, the points where air-conditioning pipes pass through, and mesh on shafts, which are the routes actually used.
-
Treating what it feeds on
Placed bait for cockroaches at entrances and service areas, because cutting the food supply reduces visits more than repeating a spray.
-
Aftercare instructions
What to lift out of the yard, where to move the outside light, and the ventilation time for your situation, which we give you on site.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, a refreshed perimeter band and a check of anything new around it.
Landmarks of Al Zahra
Al Zahra sits between King Abdulaziz Road and the corniche on one side and Hira Street on the other. Treatment focuses on the shops and corridors fronting King Abdulaziz Road where most scorpions arrive, and on flats facing Hira where insects find entry.

Questions about this district
Do scorpions come from the shop below my flat or from King Abdulaziz Road?
The shop below is the main source. Shops attract many insects because of stored goods and lighting. The scorpion follows them through vertical gaps, lifts and stairs. If the shop is directly beneath your unit the risk is much higher.
Does closing the shop in the evening reduce scorpions in the flat?
Closing does reduce insect attraction but does not stop it entirely. However treating your flat and sealing vertical gaps between units is equally essential. The shop alone does not solve the problem if shared passages are not sealed.
Why is a flat on King Abdulaziz Road worse affected than one in a side lane?
The main road has more traffic, more lights and more insects. Shops on the main road draw insects from the street directly. Flats above them face higher scorpion arrival as the insects climb from below.
Does treating my flat alone protect me if neighbours are untreated?
Treatment protects your unit but does not prevent new arrivals from the shop or shared passages. Co ordinating with neighbours and the shop tenant below significantly improves the result.
Will pressure on the shop to clean and maintain reduce scorpions?
Greatly. If you arrange regular shop cleaning, disposal of stacked boxes and old cardboard, insects drop sharply and scorpions follow. This costs less than repeated treatments.
How often does a flat in Al Zahra need treatment yearly?
Once or twice depending on activity. If the ground floor shop is a persistent problem, three treatments per year may help. Watch the actual activity rather than follow a calendar.
How much does scorpion control in Al Zahra cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Zahra.
