Old airport ground beneath new foundations

This land was an airport with chambers and old tunnels never fully filled in. Ants live in them and breach the new house foundations. Treatment must reach beneath the surface, not just the building exterior.

The second reason

Al Naseem is a constant ant source

Al Naseem is older and neighbours Al Wurud to the east, with more ants already established in its older housing stock. They crawl underground and reach new villas in Al Wurud. Eastern neighbours may not treat their homes, so ants return from there continuously.

King Fahd Road and Prince Majid Road are close, and ants follow underground lines from homes on Fahd Road to homes on Majid Road. The street above does not stop the ants beneath it.

The species and the trail decide the bait

The district lies between King Fahd Road and Prince Majid Road on the old airport location. It adjoins Al Naseem, an older quarter, to the east and Bani Malik to the north. The ground holds remnants of the former runway infrastructure.

The sweet feeders

Sweet feeders in Al Wurud come from shops on King Fahd Road and small restaurants. Sugar bait works quickly in homes near these sources and is carried back to underground nests at speed.

The grease and protein feeders

Grease and protein feeders follow drainage from neighbourhood restaurants and spilled cooking oils in passages. Apartment buildings carry continuous oily discharge from multiple kitchens.

The trail and its direction

The trail begins in underground voids and rises through foundation cracks into the home. Return is to the old underground voids, not to a surface food source, making trail-following more complex here.

Moisture before food

Moisture comes from old drainage beneath the surface and leaks from shared water pipes in apartment buildings. Ants choose wet paths underground over surface routes.

The nest outside the building

The main nest sits underground in the old airport voids. Ants live there year round and launch nightly foraging runs into homes from below.

Winged ants

Winged ants emerge in spring from the damp underground cavities. Their presence in large numbers means the underground colony is mature and shedding mating flights.

The mixed district means villas and apartments share the same ground, and ants move freely between them underground. Treating a villa alone does not stop ants from an adjacent apartment building because the two are connected beneath the surface.

Are house foundations on old airport land weak against ants?

Yes. The land here has voids from its former use, and ants live in these old cavities. New foundations were not fully sealed against the underground voids beneath them.

Do ants come from the older Al Naseem quarter next door?

Very likely. Al Naseem is older than Al Wurud and carries a heavier ant load already. They crawl underground and reach the new villas. If neighbours do not treat, ants return from there constantly.

Does treating my house stop ants if my neighbour's is untreated?

Partially. Your home will be protected for a time, but ants from your neighbour's house crawl beneath the ground and attempt re-entry. Coordinating with neighbours raises success significantly.

Does the distance between Fahd Road and Majid Road stop ants moving underground?

The street does not stop them beneath it; it shields them and enables their movement. Ants pass under the road from side to side without ever appearing on the surface.

Are villas harder to treat than apartment buildings in Al Wurud?

Villas have external gardens, and apartment buildings have shared corridors. Villas are often harder because the primary nest may sit in the garden, wholly outside the house itself.

Are the private gardens the main problem?

Gardens are a strong food source for ants, but the primary nest may sit deep underground from the airport era. Gardens attract them, but the solution is not found in the garden alone.
