Bird and pigeon control in Al Taysir Makkah
Al Taysir is a district west of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, with residential blocks and hotel towers for Umrah visitors, adjacent to Jarwal and Al Zahir, with full services and dense restaurants and shops along Al Taysir Street. Pigeons settle on the tall apartment rooftops, and the busy streets and occupied hotels provide constant food. The approach differs here because residents are seasonal pilgrims and the buildings are extremely tall.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Taysir
Heavy foot traffic, constantly occupied hotels, restaurants and shops provide pigeons with steady food and shelter through the entire year, especially during Umrah seasons. The method is set out in full on how we approach Bird and pigeon control.
Very tall towers make access to rooftops extremely difficult
Hotel towers in Al Taysir are very tall, reaching dozens of storeys. Reaching the rooftop requires special equipment and skill. Pigeons nest on roofs far above ground, and removing nests requires strict safety protocols.
Hotels and occupied flats demand careful timing
Hotels are constantly full of arriving and departing guests, and roof work may affect their comfort. We coordinate work in quiet times and keep noise to an absolute minimum. Furnished flats are also occupied continuously.
Umrah seasons intensify pigeon pressure
In Umrah seasons, hotels and flats are completely full, and pigeons find abundant food. Constant visitors drop scraps and waste increases. Seasonal solutions need more follow up and monitoring.
Landmarks of Al Taysir
Work in Al Taysir is organised using Al Taysir Street as the reference axis marking building locations and hotels, and the Grand Mosque and surrounding city provide fixed landmarks. From Umm Al Qura Road on the south we access each building, and we coordinate with the mosque and nearby districts to understand pigeon distribution.

The building decides which deterrent works
A district west of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, with residential blocks and hotel towers for Umrah visitors, bounded on the south by Umm Al Qura Road, with full services and dense commercial activity.
Ledge width
Roof ledges on tall towers need strong deterrents that resist high winds and pressure differences at height.
Air conditioning platforms
Air conditioning units on hotel towers are large and complex, and pigeons may perch on hard to reach spots.
The nest itself
Nests on tall towers may be very high up, and removal requires extreme care and specialist training.
The droppings pattern
Droppings from occupied hotels and flats are abundant, and pigeons find plentiful food.
Openings and shafts
Openings and balconies on towers are numerous and sometimes left open to air, and pigeons may enter.
Around the roof tank
Roof water tanks on tall towers are usually sealed, but connecting pipes may be partly open.
How we work
-
1
Survey the roof and the facade
We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.
-
2
Strip the nests and treat the parasites
Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.
-
3
Close and fit
Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.
What bird and pigeon control includes
-
A recorded survey
Every ledge, condenser platform and shaft, photographed, with nesting separated from perching before anything is chosen.
-
Nest removal and drain clearing
Lifted wet rather than swept dry, bagged closed, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.
-
Parasite treatment and sanitising
The nest position treated for ticks and mites, then the surface the droppings sat on sanitised.
-
Sealing and fitting the deterrents
Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire, spikes or wire on narrow projections, and metal mesh across ventilation openings.
-
Aftercare instructions
The condensate water, food left on the roof, and what should not sit beside a ledge if the attraction is to stay gone.
-
A follow-up on tension and corners
Netting slackens and corners open over time; the visit corrects that and closes any new position.
What is different about Al Ghazza Sub-Municipality
Al Ghazza sub municipality wraps around the north and west of the Grand Mosque, from Al Shamiyah, Al Qararah and Shaib Amir round to Jarwal and Al Taysir. Large tracts were cleared for the northern expansion and the Rua Al Haram scheme, leaving excavated ground and open construction sites beside ageing blocks that now serve as dense seasonal lodgings in Jarwal and Al Taysir. Old flood paths still fall from Jabal Qaiqaan and Jabal Khandamah towards the mosque, and markets and eateries crowd Al Masjid Al Haram Road and Umm Al Qura Road.
Questions about this district
The hotel and flats are constantly full of guests. How do you work there?
We coordinate with hotel and building management to understand guest schedules and find quiet times. We fit the deterrent without disturbance, and roof work does not disturb guests.
The building is extremely tall and the roof is far up. How do you reach it?
We use safe climbing equipment and a team trained in high work. Working on very tall roofs needs skill and training, and the team's safety is our priority.
Al Taysir Street is very crowded with pedestrians and traffic. Is work safe?
Work on the rooftop is safe. The busy street does not affect safety because the team works on the high roof. We schedule work at quieter times.
Pigeons perch on hotel ledges. Can they enter the rooms?
They can if windows and balconies are left open. The roof deterrent stops them landing and nesting. We advise the hotel to close balconies when not in use.
Umrah season draws huge numbers of pigeons. Does the deterrent hold up?
Yes, it does. The deterrent lasts year round, with peak pressure in season. We advise regular inspection and scheduled maintenance, especially after busy Umrah periods.
Do pigeons come from the Grand Mosque or from nearby areas?
Pigeons may come from multiple sources: the mosque, nearby gardens and unprotected roofs elsewhere. The deterrent protects your building, but a complete solution needs fitting across multiple sites.
How much does bird and pigeon control in Al Taysir cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Taysir.
