Ajyad sub municipality takes in the districts that press against the Grand Mosque from the south and west: Ajyad, Al Hajlah, Al Shubaikah, Al Tandabawi and Al Mansour. Hotels and rented apartment blocks for Umrah visitors stack up along Ajyad Street and Ibrahim Al Khalil Street, with kitchens and restaurants running aday and night in season. Behind them, Al Shubaikah and Al Tandabawi keep narrow old lanes on hillside ground where buildings and drains are ageing, and demolition and construction sites are a constant presence around Jabal Omar and the central zone.

Questions about this district

Hotel changes guests daily: is weekly disinfection sufficient?

No, hotels need repeated disinfection. We recommend disinfecting rooms after each checkout during peak seasons. In quieter periods, weekly may suffice. But during intense Hajj and Umrah seasons, daily disinfection of high-touch points becomes necessary.

Dense crowds and gathering: does disinfectant fail quickly?

Yes, crowds re-contaminate surfaces within hours. The disinfectant may be active for only a few hours in high-contact environments. Repeated disinfection is therefore essential. Daily in peak seasons beats weekly.

Lifts and railings: what is the priority in disinfection?

Lifts, railings and door buttons are the highest priority. Everyone touches them and they carry the most transmission. We concentrate on these first, then other surfaces. Large hotels may need lift disinfection daily.

Hotel kitchens and restaurants: are they treated separately?

Yes, kitchens need very strong treatment. We focus on food contact surfaces, cooking equipment, floors. But we use food safe product and do not interrupt kitchen work. We may disinfect kitchens during closed hours.

Do movement restrictions make disinfection easier?

Heavy restrictions during Hajj may give us more time for disinfection. But during open Umrah seasons, movement is continuous and we may need to disinfect without stopping traffic completely. This is harder and may need task division.

Hillside setting and humidity: do they harm disinfection effectiveness?

High humidity slows drying but may keep the disinfectant active longer. But stagnant air may mean humidity never leaves the room. We may need open windows or fans for better ventilation.
