Rest houses and farms in Al Hindawiyah Jeddah
Al Hindawiyah is a very old popular quarter beside Jeddah Islamic Port, settled since the nineteenth century. Population density is extremely high and more than two hundred shops supply constant food waste. Old narrow buildings, intertwined pipes and sea humidity create an ideal environment for cockroaches and rodents to flourish.

Why they keep coming back in Al Hindawiyah
Cockroaches are the oldest residents of this quarter, and the long history of the buildings means the pipes are known to every insect. Pest pressure is constant and never stops even in cool months. The method is set out in full on our Rest houses and farms service.
Building history means pipes are well known
The quarter has been settled since the nineteenth century, and the pipes beneath the buildings are very old. Cockroaches and rodents have inherited knowledge of every shared route and move along established lines.
Sea humidity and buildings near the water
Al Hindawiyah sits on the shore and humidity never stops. Walls and timber are damp for most of the year, which means cracks are deeper and shelters stay damp all the time.
Hundreds of shops provide endless food
More than two hundred shops and a dense popular market supply constant food waste. Every shop discards leftovers, and every corner hides food scraps. Cockroaches and rodents never go hungry.
Al Hindawiyah on the map
Al Hindawiyah sits about 1.5 km from Al Balad and about 3 km from Al Kandarah.
Open in Google MapsThe site decides the shape of the programme
The quarter sits directly on the coast and humidity is very high all year. Streets are narrow and buildings are packed tight, and old drainage runs beneath every house and shop. The air is salty and damp.
The foot of the wall
The wall or boundary base is surrounded by a narrow street on all sides. We focus on gaps around pipes and drains at the wall base, where insects enter from the street and neighbouring buildings.
Frond and block piles
Frond and block piles are rare but decorative stones and large rocks sit in some courtyards. We treat them directly and clear sheltering insects from underneath.
Standing water
Standing water comes from old pipe leaks and aged drains. Even a single drop in a corner breeds mosquitoes quickly. We focus on fixing visible leaks and treating around drains.
The feed store
Food storage in the many shops and eateries sits on ground floors throughout the quarter. Strong treatment around stores, fridges and drains is needed every week.
Pens and bedding
Pens and bedding do not exist in the residential quarter, but shop storage rooms offer enclosed damp spaces. Treating corners, cupboards and gaps around pipes in storage is essential.
The building that stays shut
Buildings that lock at night become safe shelters for pests. Night treatment before closure and morning checks of corners are essential in all shops and the popular market.
How we work
-
1
Walk the site and number the points
We walk the boundary, the feed store, the pens, the water sources and the buildings, record the species present, the burrows, the entry points and every standing water source, and number the monitoring positions on a plan.
-
2
Lift what things hide under
The piles, the rubble, the fallen dates, the feed sacks pushed up against the wall. On any large plot these gather simply because there is room for them, and clearing them brings the numbers down before a single product is used.
-
3
The perimeter band and targeted treatment
A band at the foot of the wall and the buildings, treatment into the burrows and cracks, locked rodent stations fixed along the route, and mosquito breeding sites treated in the water itself.
-
4
Scheduled visits and a sheet each time
We come back on an agreed schedule, read the same points, renew the band the sun and the irrigation have used up, and write down what was found, what was applied and where, and what the site needs closed.
What the rest house and farm programme includes
-
A site walk and a map of the points
The boundary, the buildings, the pens and the water sources, and a plan with the monitoring positions numbered before anything is installed.
-
Water sources treated at the source
Drinking troughs, drip lines, tank outlets and anything that stands for days, because mosquitoes come out of water and not out of the air.
-
A treated band at the perimeter
The foot of the wall, the building bases and the path edges, which is the line anything coming off the open ground has to cross.
-
Locked rodent stations
Fixed and numbered along one route, and closed so that neither a child's hand nor an animal on the site can get into them.
-
What the site does afterwards
What to cover, where to move animal water bowls, when irrigation can start again without washing the band off, and the ventilation time, which we give you on the call because it changes with the product and the space.
-
Scheduled visits and a record
A schedule agreed ahead of the seasons, the same points read every time, and a record of what was found, what was treated and what is still open.
Landmarks of Al Hindawiyah
Al Hindawiyah sits beside Jeddah Islamic Port directly, with Port Street forming one boundary. The popular market runs along Al Dhahab Street and Abdullah Hashim Street, close to Umar ibn Al Khattab Mosque and Zawiyat Al Hunud Mosque. Treatment reaches the quarter through these main routes and we focus on blocking entry from the port and cracks near the waterfront.

Questions about this district
The quarter is very old. Do ancient pipes need special treatment?
Yes, very old pipes cannot be cleared in the usual way. We focus on blocking entry at every outlet, not on cleaning the pipes themselves, which are too brittle to work with.
Does high sea humidity ruin the pesticide?
No, but it needs higher concentrations and faster repeat visits. Spray is washed by mist and moisture, so we return sooner than we would in dry districts.
Hundreds of shops exist. Do they all feed the cockroach population?
Yes, every restaurant, grocer and shop discards waste. The whole quarter lives on shop food, and cockroaches find it in every corner of every building.
Flats stacked above shops. Is one treatment enough?
No, every flat needs individual treatment because shared pipes reintroduce infestations. Coordination with shops and neighbouring flats is better than treating one flat in isolation.
How often must we treat an old dense quarter like Al Hindawiyah?
Every ten days during high season, every two weeks at other times. Old dense quarters need very high pressure treatment to keep infestations from taking hold.
The quarter sits on the coast. Do marine insects enter the buildings?
Yes, land crabs and coastal scorpions enter through cracks near the water especially. Treatment focuses on air vents and large gaps close to the water line.
How much does rest houses and farms in Al Hindawiyah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Hindawiyah.
