Fly control in Al Aziziyah Jeddah
Al Aziziyah is a dense district in northern central Jeddah filled with restaurants, cafes, shops, food stores, poultry merchants and popular markets. Apartment blocks sit over ground floor shops on Makarona Road, interspersed with numbered villas. The district is old and its intensive commercial use means very high fly pressure year round.

Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Aziziyah
In Al Aziziyah, a flat on the third floor may sit directly above a restaurant or poultry shop, so flies do not need to fly: they climb through gaps and shared pipework. The method is set out in full on our Fly control service.
Makarona Road is a unique concentration of food and flies
Makarona Road is a dense food axis: restaurants, sandwich shops, poultry outlets, fish shops and bakeries in succession. Flies breed in each shop and climb directly into the flats above through openings and shared pipes.
Building density shrinks distances between source and home
The district is very crowded, and the distance from a poultry shop to a window in the flat above may be just one metre. This means very rapid fly transfer without barriers.
Popular markets provide continuous fermentation environment
Popular markets in Al Aziziyah hold loose vegetables, fruits and fish, with waste scattered on the ground. This creates a non stop fermentation environment, and flies emerge there in massive numbers.
The character of Al Aziziyah
Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them
In a dense mixed district such as Al Aziziyah, flies exploit extreme proximity between shops and homes. Restaurants and markets supply unceasing sources, shared pipes provide direct routes, and high density means slow escape. The solution must address the source in the shop first.
Where the flies are actually coming from
Al Aziziyah is an old dense district with an enormous concentration of food shops and restaurants, and the separation between ground floor outlets and the housing above is very weak.
House fly
The house fly enters Al Aziziyah in massive numbers from restaurants and shops, settling in flats rapidly because the distance is very short.
Blow fly
The blow fly and flesh fly are heavy around poultry, fish and butcher shops in the markets, ascending into flats through shared pipes easily.
Fermenting residue
Food scraps and organic waste in shops and markets provide ideal fermentation medium year round due to high density and constant handling.
The bin base
The base of waste bins in shops and markets collects liquid and sludge, and larvae develop very fast there.
The film inside a drain
Biofilm in pipes shared between shops and flats benefits from a constant flow of waste, providing abundant food for fly larvae.
The service door and its mesh
Main axis shops open directly to the street, and gaps between shop and flat above are large and numerous, so flies enter and exit easily.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and trace the source
We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.
-
2
Treat the breeding medium
Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.
-
3
Treat the resting surfaces
A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.
-
4
Proofing and the follow-up
We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.
What fly control includes
-
A source tracing inspection
The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.
-
Drains and floor traps
Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.
-
Residual on the resting surfaces
Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.
-
Fly bait in protected positions
An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.
-
Aftercare instructions
Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.
What is different about Al Aziziyah Sub-Municipality
The Al Aziziyah sub municipality takes in the established heart of northern Jeddah, from the Al Hamra corniche on the Red Sea to Al Rehab east of King Abdullah Road. Its buildings date back decades, mostly mid rise apartment blocks over shops and closely packed restaurants along Makarona Road, Tahliah Street and Palestine Street, alongside villas and hotel towers near the shore. Sea humidity is high in the western districts, plumbing and drainage in the older blocks are ageing, and food outlets, hospitals and irrigated gardens are everywhere, conditions that favour cockroaches, ants, mosquitoes and rodents throughout the year.
Questions about this district
Are the restaurants and shops on Makarona Road the main reason for flies in the flats above?
Yes entirely. Food outlets are primary fly sources, and flies climb directly into upper flats through pipes and gaps. The separation is very weak in Al Aziziyah.
Why is the fly problem worse in the upper flat than in the lower one in the same building?
The ground flat is closer to the shop but may have better sealing. The upper flat is distant from the shop but sits on the direct ascent line for flies through pipes, so it may get the flies that did not settle lower.
Does cleaning the shop without treatment reduce flies in the flat above it?
Cleaning reduces flies a little but does not solve the problem. Fly larvae develop under shop flooring and in pipes, and surface cleaning does not reach them.
Are the popular markets in Al Aziziyah a bigger fly source than the restaurants?
Markets are a huge source because waste is scattered and uncontained. Restaurants have better waste control. Together the two create enormous pressure on the district.
Are the numbered villas in Al Aziziyah better protected from flies than the apartment blocks?
The villas are slightly better because they are further from shops, but they are not protected entirely. Flies fly easily from the main commercial spines to the numbered villas, especially in summer.
Does winter reduce the fly problem in Al Aziziyah significantly?
Winter cuts flies but not dramatically because restaurants and shops are open year round and flies continue actively. Spring and summer are much worse, but the district never becomes fly free.
How much does fly control in Al Aziziyah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Aziziyah.
