Why they keep coming back in Al Muntazahat

Old Makkah Road itself is very old and the pipes beneath it are layered from different eras, some from before the current district was built. The new district was laid over old networks that were never fully replaced. The method is set out in full on how we approach Mosquito control.

The first reason

Inherited ageing networks under Old Makkah Road from older quarters

Old Makkah Road itself carries pipes serving many districts, some of them damaged or blocked. Al Muntazahat connects to this system, and standing water fills voids beneath the road, feeding mosquito breeding.

The second reason

Al Muntazahat Park is a mosquito source for neighbouring villas

The park is irrigated heavily and water stays in soil and plants, and mosquitoes fly from park into adjacent villas and apartment blocks easily. Treating the park itself is not our scope.

The third reason

New buildings on foundations surrounded by vacant plots and ongoing building

The district is still expanding, and around new blocks vacant plots collect rainwater. These unplanned zones are seasonal mosquito sources when the rains come.

After sunset the mosquito leaves the park and watered areas to hunt, and apartment buildings and villas next to the park become its first targets.

How we work

Inspect and map the water

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

What is different about Umm Al Salam Sub-Municipality

The Umm Al Salam sub municipality covers the east and south east of Jeddah along the Old Makkah Road and the Haramain Road. It pairs recently planned districts such as Al Wahah, Al Nakhil and Al Shuruq with popular districts that grew outside formal planning, including Al Harazat, Al Mahamid and Umm Al Salam. The older areas have ageing drainage, unpaved streets and vacant plots where building waste collects, conditions that suit rodents, cockroaches and ants. The newer areas are ringed by half built subdivisions and open excavations.

Questions about this district

Is Al Muntazahat Park the main mosquito source for the whole district?

A large part of it, yes. But old networks under the road and standing water there are equally important. Treating your villa and its surrounds shields you, but park mosquitoes return seasonally.

Do the older neighbouring houses affect Al Muntazahat?

Yes, greatly. Older neighbouring districts have more pipe problems and more mosquitoes. This new district is surrounded by older quarters on three sides that send mosquitoes into the street daily.

Is Old Makkah Road itself a mosquito source?

Yes. The old street and its pipes below are full of standing water and debris. Regular visits protect your home from mosquitoes flowing from the road.

Are building sites and vacant plots around the district dangerous?

In rainy season very much so. Rain collects in places with no drainage, filling holes and voids. A growing district means new mosquito sources appear each season.

Can the public park be treated or is that outside your scope?

It is outside, because the park is public. But regular treatment around your home protects it well, even with the park beside you.

When should mosquitoes drop after the first visit here?

A week to ten days in good conditions. But the park and neighbouring streets mean fast return, so regular scheduling is necessary.
