Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

What is different about Al Utaybiyah Sub-Municipality

Al Utaybiyah sub municipality covers the old districts north of the Grand Mosque: the hillside quarters of Al Hajun, Al Utaybiyah and Al Bayban, Al Zahir and Al Shuhada at the northern entrance, and the newer Al Zahra, Al Diyafah and An Nuzhah westward. Its building stock is among the oldest in Makkah, stone houses on the hills, packed apartment blocks and sewers decades old, threaded with crowded markets like the Utaybiyah souq and furnished flats that fill in the pilgrim seasons. Questions about this district

If only the ground-floor shop is infested, are the flats above at risk too?

If the flats share the same concrete footing and foundations as the shop, termites move between them freely. Treatment must cover the entire footing beneath the shop and the block together to stop all routes.

Why is moisture beneath a shop worse than in ordinary houses?

Shops receive customers and daily cleaning; water soaks into the ground. Water and drain pipes are older and leak more. Termites come for the moisture before they come for the timber.

Can I treat my flat alone without treating the shop below?

If the shop remains untreated, the routes beneath the shared footing stay open. Termites may return from below within weeks or months. Effective treatment includes all units on the same foundation.

What is the difference between treating the footing and the pipes?

Footing treatment stops termites entering from the soil. Pipe treatment stops them moving through the tunnels they have dug underground. Complete treatment needs both.

Does the shop's cleaning water affect how well termite treatment works?

Water pooling after treatment can weaken the chemical barrier in the soil. Drainage from the shop needs to be managed before or during termite treatment.

When should I start: before the shop opens or after an infestation?

Preventive treatment of a new shop is simpler and less disruptive than treating an active infestation. If the shop is new or in an old block, early treatment prevents years of problems.
