Termite control in Al Nuzhah Makkah
Al Nuzhah mixes shops at street level with residential flats above them on shared foundations, so an infestation spreads easily between floors and units. Termite control here requires coordinated treatment of both the commercial and residential sections of the same building.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

Why they keep coming back in Al Nuzhah
Ground-floor shops often retain seepage water and moisture collections beneath their floors, creating an ideal breeding environment that draws termites from considerable distances. The method is set out in full on the full Termite control page.
Shared entrances amplify the spread
Residential blocks here share a single footing beneath several flats. If termites enter from below one shop on the ground floor, they can move through shared joints to all the flats above it. Treatment must block all those routes simultaneously.
Roof and yard water leaks seep down
The district's yards and shop areas collect rainwater and drainage. Moisture seeps beneath old footings, and termites follow water from considerable distances, settling where they find moisture and timber together.
Underground pipes open ready-made tunnels
Drainage and water pipes running beneath shops and blocks provide tunnels termites can use. Effective treatment must address entry points where every pipe passes under the footing.
Landmarks of Al Nuzhah
Access to the district is straightforward from Old Makkah Road to the north or Umm Al Qura Road to the west, and work is organised by the building's proximity to Al Hijaz Mall or An Nuzhah Park.

The evidence that decides the treatment
The district is crossed by several main roads, crowded markets and public parks, all of which increase moisture in the soil around the building foundations and concrete pads.
Mud tubes
Mud tubes appear at slab joints between shops and blocks, reaching deep beneath the shared foundation where the main colony is established.
Shed wings
Shed wings appear in spring throughout shops and flats together, signalling active colonies in the soil beneath them.
Hollow timber
Hollow timber first shows in shop shelving and fittings, then in window and door frames in the upper flats.
The water source
The water source is leakage from drain pipes beneath the shared footing and rainwater pooling in the yards surrounding the district.
Cellulose on the floor
Cellulose on the floor includes damp timber beneath shop floors and wooden pieces in old footings.
Joints and pipe entries
Joints and pipe entries are the main routes for termites between shops and flats, requiring separate treatment from the soil treatment.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and trace
We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.
-
2
Treat the soil around the building
A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.
-
3
Drill the joints, inject the timber
Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.
-
4
Bait stations and monitoring
Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.
What termite control includes
-
A traced, recorded inspection
Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.
-
A treated band at the perimeter
Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.
-
Joints and service penetrations
Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.
-
Bait stations in the soil
A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.
-
Aftercare instructions
What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.
-
Scheduled monitoring visits
Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.
What is different about Al Utaybiyah Sub-Municipality
Al Utaybiyah sub municipality covers the old districts north of the Grand Mosque: the hillside quarters of Al Hajun, Al Utaybiyah and Al Bayban, Al Zahir and Al Shuhada at the northern entrance, and the newer Al Zahra, Al Diyafah and An Nuzhah westward. Its building stock is among the oldest in Makkah, stone houses on the hills, packed apartment blocks and sewers decades old, threaded with crowded markets like the Utaybiyah souq and furnished flats that fill in the pilgrim seasons. Wadi Al Zahir and Wadi Al Tanim carry storm water through it, and industrial workshops line Hajj Street.
Questions about this district
If only the ground-floor shop is infested, are the flats above at risk too?
If the flats share the same concrete footing and foundations as the shop, termites move between them freely. Treatment must cover the entire footing beneath the shop and the block together to stop all routes.
Why is moisture beneath a shop worse than in ordinary houses?
Shops receive customers and daily cleaning; water soaks into the ground. Water and drain pipes are older and leak more. Termites come for the moisture before they come for the timber.
Can I treat my flat alone without treating the shop below?
If the shop remains untreated, the routes beneath the shared footing stay open. Termites may return from below within weeks or months. Effective treatment includes all units on the same foundation.
What is the difference between treating the footing and the pipes?
Footing treatment stops termites entering from the soil. Pipe treatment stops them moving through the tunnels they have dug underground. Complete treatment needs both.
Does the shop's cleaning water affect how well termite treatment works?
Water pooling after treatment can weaken the chemical barrier in the soil. Drainage from the shop needs to be managed before or during termite treatment.
When should I start: before the shop opens or after an infestation?
Preventive treatment of a new shop is simpler and less disruptive than treating an active infestation. If the shop is new or in an old block, early treatment prevents years of problems.
How much does termite control in Al Nuzhah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Nuzhah.
