Cockroach control in Al Nuzhah Makkah

Al Nuzhah sits on the western edge of Al Otaibiyah, next to Al Zahra and Al Rusaifah, and it puts residential blocks, flats and standalone villas on the same street. That mix decides how cockroaches are dealt with here. In a block they travel between flats through shared risers and drainage runs, so one treated flat can be re-fed from above; in a villa the problem stays close to the kitchen and the yard.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Nuzhah

What we notice here: in the blocks the same German cockroach turns up in flats stacked one above another along a single riser line, while in the standalone villas it stays penned near the kitchen. The method is set out in full on how we approach Cockroach control.

The first reason

A block and a villa are two jobs

On one Al Nuzhah street a residential block stands beside a standalone villa. In the block we follow the riser line climbing between flats and treat the stacked floors together. In the villa we keep the work to the kitchen and the yard, because the problem does not cross into a neighbour.

The second reason

On the Rusaifah boundary

Al Nuzhah is the western edge that touches Al Rusaifah and Al Zahra, older and denser districts. Sitting on that line means pressure from the buildings next door: your flat can be treated and then re-fed from an adjoining block that has not been done. So we read the whole building's surroundings, not the single flat.

The third reason

Flats that change hands

Many Al Nuzhah flats are let furnished to short-staying visitors. Every changeover brings in luggage and second-hand furniture that can carry the German cockroach and its egg cases, so an infestation renews itself in a clean kitchen. That is why we check the entry points and the cupboards, not just the corners you can see.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

The district lies on sloping rocky ground at the far west of Al Otaibiyah, where the shared plumbing of the older blocks meets the street drains. Those runs are the American cockroach's route up into ground-floor flats and villa yards, especially in the heat.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

The German cockroach is small and kitchen-bound. In Al Nuzhah's blocks it moves between flats along the climbing riser line, so it shows up on more than one floor in a straight vertical line.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The American cockroach is larger and climbs up from the street drains and inspection chambers set in the rocky ground, entering ground-floor flats and villa yards, most of all in the summer heat.

Appliance heat

The heat of a fridge motor or a water heater draws the German cockroach in Al Nuzhah flats. It gathers in the warm cracks beside these appliances, which is why you rarely see it in daylight.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

The gap behind the fridge is warm, dark and next to food, a favourite place to lay egg cases. We open it up and treat it rather than settling for the visible corners of the kitchen.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

A cockroach needs water more than food. In Al Nuzhah's older flats a slow leak under the sink or in the bathroom is enough to keep it going, so we shut off the damp before anything else.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

One cockroach crossing your kitchen at night points to a larger number tucked into cracks by day. We read that sign to gauge how big the infestation is and where its source sits.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

My neighbour in the block has cockroaches, is treating only my flat enough?

In Al Nuzhah's blocks the flats share riser and drainage lines, so a single flat treated on its own may quieten down and then be re-fed from the neighbour. We treat your flat, seal the shared pipe penetrations, and advise coordinating the floors on the same vertical line.

Does a villa need different treatment from a flat here?

Yes. A standalone villa shares no pipework with neighbours, so we contain the work to its own kitchen, bathrooms, yard and inspection chambers. A flat in a block, by contrast, is treated as part of the building's vertical line, so it cannot simply be re-seeded from another floor.

My flat is a furnished short-let, how do I keep cockroaches out between guests?

Furnished short-lets take in luggage and second-hand furniture, which are the two things most likely to carry the German cockroach and its egg cases. We check the cupboards, the entry points and the kitchen, place bait in the cracks that stays active between changeovers, and close off the damp under the sink.

I am on the ground floor and roaches climb up from the drains, why?

On Al Nuzhah's sloping rocky ground the street drains and inspection chambers run close to the ground-floor flats, and in the heat the American cockroach climbs up out of them looking for cool and water. We treat the entry points and fit barriers over the openings and floor gullies.

The building next door towards Al Rusaifah was treated and now they came to me, is that possible?

It is. Treating a neighbouring building pushes cockroaches to flee to the nearest shelter, and Al Nuzhah sits on the boundary with denser Al Rusaifah. We check your building's surroundings, the party walls and the pipework touching the neighbour, and treat the crossing points rather than the inside of your flat alone.

I moved into a new villa and roaches appeared after the furniture arrived, where from?

A new villa is usually clean, but moved furniture and used cardboard boxes can carry German cockroach egg cases in their cracks. We check the kitchen, the cupboards and the storage area, and treat the source before it spreads through your new villa.

How much does cockroach control in Al Nuzhah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Nuzhah.
