Water tank sterilization in Badr Makkah
Badr is a newly developed quarter on rising ground near the Fourth Ring Road and King Faisal Road, with new apartment buildings fitted with modern tanks. Water runs through new pipelines that have never been used before, and sterilization here is especially important because new tanks often contain installation residue and initial contaminants.
-
Potable-rated materials
Linings and disinfectants cleared for drinking water tanks, not general-purpose products.
-
You get the downtime first
How many hours the tank is out of service, told before we start rather than after we finish.
-
A first-draw flush
We run the first draw off after refilling, and the tank is not handed back until the water runs clear.
-
Ground and roof tanks
Villas, apartment blocks and premises that need a written record of each visit.
Why the job is different in Badr
New buildings here have recently installed tanks that have not yet been through professional cleaning after commissioning, and fresh water in the new pipelines contains metal oxides from the initial treatment. The method is set out in full on our Water tank sterilization service.
Modern tanks and new installations
Tanks in new apartment buildings are made of fibreglass or modern concrete, and metal pipelines are newly laid and unused. Installation residue and initial rust must be removed before extended use.
Fresh water and initial contamination
Water pumped for the first time into new tanks carries sediment from the pipelines and original treatment compounds. Dust from construction and dissolved metals settle on the tank floor.
Sterilization needed before occupancy
New buildings attract families within weeks of completion, and tanks must be fully sterilized. Proper sterilization ensures that the first water drawn is safe for drinking and cooking.

What we read inside the tank before anything starts
A new residential development area on the western side of the sub-municipality, next to Al Khadra and Al Usaylah, where the Fourth Ring Road meets the approach to King Faisal Road. Planned residential plots are being built with scattered new apartment buildings.
Sediment on the floor
Metal particles from copper, steel and fibreglass pipes accumulate on the floor during first installation.
The slime film on the wall
Initial rust on internal pipe walls must be scrubbed away during high-pressure washing.
Light and heat
New pipes retain air pockets from installation, and the sterilant must reach every pipe section from tank to the furthest outlet.
The lining and any cracking
Moisture in new tanks is high from the washing and drying process, and sterilization focuses on removing any simple organic residues that could grow.
The lid and the openings
Sediment collects on the floor and in corners of square and rectangular tanks, and suction hoses must reach every corner.
What shows up at the tap
Pipeline branches to distant taps need separate flushing because sterilant may not reach full concentration if the distance is long.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and record the condition
We open the hatch and work through what the tank is made of and how big it is, how deep the sediment lies, the state of the lining, whether the lid and the overflow seal, and whether there is a crack that has to be repaired before any sterilizing.
-
2
Drain and lift the sediment out
The water goes out, then the silt and sand are lifted off the floor by suction rather than pushed toward the outlet, because pushing them sends them into the house pipework and the heater.
-
3
High pressure wash
Walls, floor, corners and the area around the outlet, until the slime film is completely gone. This is the step that makes the sterilizing after it mean anything.
-
4
Sterilize, rinse, then return to service
The sterilizing agent goes onto the walls, the floor and the underside of the lid and is left for its contact time, then we rinse, refill and run the furthest tap until the whole line is clear.
What water tank sterilization includes
-
A recorded inspection
Material, capacity, sediment depth, the state of the lining, the lid and the overflow, all before any work begins.
-
Draining and sediment removal
The water out, and the silt and sand lifted off the floor instead of being pushed into the outlet and the house pipework.
-
High pressure washing
Walls, corners and around the outlet, until the biofilm that no disinfectant penetrates has gone.
-
Sterilizing the internal surfaces
A sterilizing agent meant for drinking water tanks, applied to the walls, the floor and the underside of the lid, and left for its contact time.
-
Line flush and aftercare
Rinse, refill and a flush from the furthest tap, when the water is usable again, and what to change in the filter afterwards.
-
The next cycle
We agree the right interval for your tank from how it is filled, how much sun it takes and the condition of the lid.
What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality
Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.
Questions about this district
Do new tanks need immediate sterilization after installation?
Yes, installation residue, initial rust and construction dust are always present in new tanks. Sterilization should be done before the first use.
What is the difference between cleaning a new tank and an old one?
A new tank is cleaned of metal particles and installation dust, while an old tank is cleaned of accumulated sediment and algae.
Is water from a newly commissioned tank safe to drink before sterilization?
No, it may contain metal particles and construction debris. Sterilization must be done before the first drink.
How do we ensure installation residue is removed from new pipelines?
We pump water from the furthest outlet and flush until the water runs clear, then sterilize both the tank and pipelines together.
Is one sterilization enough for a new tank or do we need follow-up?
One sterilization at commissioning is enough, but if water sits unused for a long period, additional sterilization may be needed.
Do new copper pipes affect water taste?
Yes, initial oxidation changes the taste slightly. Full sterilization and flushing removes this taste entirely.
How much does water tank sterilization in Badr cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Badr.
