Ant control in Al Haram Makkah
Al Haram is a commercial zone sitting directly around the Grand Mosque, stirred by pilgrims and Umrah visitors every day of the year. Offices, showrooms and small warehouses here link their doors to the mosque plazas and main streets that carry ants in from every direction.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.
-
Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Haram
Offices and small shops receive a constant flow of visitor traffic throughout the day, and ants find abundance in dropped food and leaks at every corner. The method is set out in full on Ant control in detail.
Adjacent commercial units with no barrier between them
Adjoining shop units share walls with no effective seal between them. An ant that breaches one common wall enters one office and spreads to the next. Treating one office leaves the others unprotected unless we treat the common walls and the foundation beneath them together.
Damp ground and drainage that carries ants
Pipework beneath the floors carries both food waste and moisture together, making the drain network an ant hatchery for grease and protein feeders. Every drain opening in the showroom is a direct entry from the ground below into the unit above.
Ant trails flow in from the open plazas outside
The open courtyards and gardens surrounding the Haram provide natural ant nesting very close by. Trails enter from outside, cross the common ground and reach shop entrances. Ants carry bait from inside the unit back to nests in the open ground.
The character of Al Haram
Commercial area: offices, showrooms and small stores
A shop or showroom surrounded by other commercial units, and ants do not respect separating walls, so treatment requires coordination with neighbours or treatment of the entire shared foundation from outside.
The species and the trail decide the bait
The commercial area is ringed by mountains and open expansion courtyards, with damp ground fed by old drain pipes and high water tables that raise moisture inside every building.
The sweet feeders
Sugar feeding ants in Al Haram find their source in visitor debris and food and drink constantly present in shops and offices, and carry bait back quickly to the nest.
The grease and protein feeders
Grease and protein feeders prey on food waste and oils in drains and beneath floors, and they dominate in high traffic commercial zones.
The trail and its direction
The trail starts from the external plazas, enters through drain openings and lower cracks, then spreads horizontally across the floor towards food sources and bait.
Moisture before food
Moisture from drains and high water tables supplies water year round, and ants nest beside leaking pipes where they find all they need in one place.
The nest outside the building
The primary nests lie in the plazas and gardens surrounding the buildings, and may be vast, spreading beneath pavements and running along external walls.
Winged ants
Winged ants in Al Haram appear visibly after the major seasons when the external nest attempts to spread its new brood inside the buildings.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and follow the trail
We follow the line from where you see it to where it enters, and establish the species, what it is feeding on and the moisture keeping the nest close.
-
2
Matched bait placed on the trail
We choose the matrix from the feeding preference and place it on the trail itself, leaving the trail intact so the workers carry it to the queen and the brood.
-
3
Treat the perimeter and close the ways in
An external treatment at the wall base and the openings, and we point out the cracks, pipe entries and any branch touching the building.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back once the bait has worked through the nest, check the trail is gone, and look for a satellite nest if a new line has appeared.
What ant control includes
-
Following the trail to its source
Species, entry point and the direction of the nest, established before anything is applied.
-
Bait matched to the colony
Sugar or protein according to what the workers are carrying, placed on the trail rather than near it.
-
An external perimeter treatment
A band at the wall base and the outside openings, with the indoor trail left unsprayed so it keeps carrying bait.
-
Moisture points and entries
Condensate lines, sink surrounds, weep holes and pipe entries, which are what keeps a nest against the building.
-
Aftercare instructions
What not to wipe until the bait has been taken, what to cover, and when normal cleaning can resume.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date to check the nest and re-bait anywhere still active.
What is different about Al Ghazza Sub-Municipality
Al Ghazza sub municipality wraps around the north and west of the Grand Mosque, from Al Shamiyah, Al Qararah and Shaib Amir round to Jarwal and Al Taysir. Large tracts were cleared for the northern expansion and the Rua Al Haram scheme, leaving excavated ground and open construction sites beside ageing blocks that now serve as dense seasonal lodgings in Jarwal and Al Taysir. Old flood paths still fall from Jabal Qaiqaan and Jabal Khandamah towards the mosque, and markets and eateries crowd Al Masjid Al Haram Road and Umm Al Qura Road.
Questions about this district
Does the ant in my shop come from the Haram plazas or the adjacent shop?
From both. The external plazas host natural nests very close, and adjoining shops may share the same nest if foundations are linked. Treatment of the exterior perimeter is as important as treatment inside.
After I treat my showroom, will ants return from the shop on either side?
They will if we leave the common walls and shared foundation untreated. An ant breaches a single shared wall. We must coordinate with the adjoining shop or treat the entire wall from outside and inside together.
Do I need to close my shop during treatment?
You do not. We place bait in corners, cracks and around the foundation, not an airborne spray. You can work normally, staying clear of baited areas.
Are drain openings in the floor the ants' main highway?
Absolutely. Drains carry moisture and food waste together. Ants enter at the drain opening and climb inside the pipe. Special treatment of drain points is essential in this zone.
Does moisture beneath the floor make treatment harder?
It does make it worse and slower. Damp ground provides water all year, and ants do not travel far from moisture. We need strong targeted treatment and precise tracking of drain lines.
Does treating the external Haram plaza alone solve my shop's problem?
It does not suffice. Outside treatment weakens the nest but does not kill it. New ants will enter your shop within weeks. We need inside treatment at the same time.
How much does ant control in Al Haram cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Haram.
