The piles, the rubble, the fallen dates, the feed sacks pushed up against the wall. On any large plot these gather simply because there is room for them, and clearing them brings the numbers down before a single product is used.

The perimeter band and targeted treatment

A band at the foot of the wall and the buildings, treatment into the burrows and cracks, locked rodent stations fixed along the route, and mosquito breeding sites treated in the water itself.

We come back on an agreed schedule, read the same points, renew the band the sun and the irrigation have used up, and write down what was found, what was applied and where, and what the site needs closed.

What is different about Ajyad Sub-Municipality

Ajyad sub municipality takes in the districts that press against the Grand Mosque from the south and west: Ajyad, Al Hajlah, Al Shubaikah, Al Tandabawi and Al Mansour. Hotels and rented apartment blocks for Umrah visitors stack up along Ajyad Street and Ibrahim Al Khalil Street, with kitchens and restaurants running aday and night in season. Behind them, Al Shubaikah and Al Tandabawi keep narrow old lanes on hillside ground where buildings and drains are ageing, and demolition and construction sites are a constant presence around Jabal Omar and the central zone.

Questions about this district

How do cockroaches move through a joined apartment building?

Through shared pipework cracks, via windows facing the street, through doors opening to dark corridors, and via gaps beneath wall panels. Successful control has to target each of these pathways; treating the flat alone will fail.

Why do mosquitoes keep coming back from a nearby spot?

Ajyad is surrounded by streets and courtyards. Standing water in any adjoining yard breeds larvae that mature in a month. Scheduled visits track these sites and treat them before flies emerge.

Is the infestation coming from our flat or from the hotel below or above?

Pests move between units via shared voids. Eliminating them requires coordination with the management and neighbouring flats; otherwise they return within weeks from the adjoining unit.

Do you treat the hallways and shared courtyard or only our flat?

Treating the flat alone drives pests into the corridor. Lasting control starts at the external boundary and foundation, extends through the shared ground and courtyards, then enters the building from bottom to top.

The flat is rented out and we cannot control it. How do we treat without disturbing the tenant?
