Hotels and apartments in Al Misfalah Makkah
Al Misfalah is a district of old apartment blocks standing shoulder to shoulder, filled year-round with Hajj and Umrah pilgrims staying in furnished units. Shared entrances and communal staircases mean bed bugs and cockroaches move between apartments fast. The work differs here: we cannot treat one flat alone; we must trace and break the shared pathways.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.
-
Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Misfalah
The resident population of each flat changes every few weeks, and a guest who carried bed bugs may have left before full cleaning happened; the next arrival finds an infestation already hiding in the seams. The method is set out in full on our Hotels and apartments service.
Shared apartments and communal building entry points
A flat in an old block is not sealed: the stairs, lifts, and hallways connect it to dozens of others. Bed bugs travel through shared walls and the old foundations between floors. Treating a single flat will fail unless we address the common pathways and neighbouring flats at the same time. The building's age and density are the real treatment boundaries.
Fast guest turnover in deteriorating structure
The incoming guest may carry a fresh infestation from outside Makkah. Blocks built decades ago are no longer tight: cracks in walls and damp foundations offer year-round shelter for insects. Inspection must include the old structure itself, not just the furniture. Humidity and age are as much the enemy as the guest's luggage.
Ground floor restaurants and shops feeding upwards
The ground floor runs restaurants, cafes and food shops continuously all year. Waste and cooking oils are part of the district's daily life. Cockroaches climb from the kitchen to the flat above through pipes and wall voids. The hotel and apartment programme here must include the ground floor shops if treatment is to hold.
The character of Al Misfalah
Apartment district: residential blocks, repeated floors and shared entrances
Shared apartments in one building mean bed bugs and cockroaches ignore the boundaries between units. One programme for the whole block works better than treating one flat in isolation from its neighbours.
What we check in the room, and behind it
The district slopes south from the Grand Mosque along Ibrahim Al Khalil Street, with closely packed older apartment buildings, restaurants and shops filling the ground floors without pause throughout the year.
Mattress and base seams
Seams in the new hotel bed are tight and shallow, but a furnished flat in Al Misfalah may have old furniture with deep, open seams offering unguarded shelter for bed bugs.
The headboard
The headboard in an older furnished apartment may be poorly fastened, leaving gaps behind it where insects hide for weeks, moving between seams each time the room is vacated.
The rooms either side
The neighbouring flats in the same old block may be the reason the treated flat becomes infested again; treating them together is the only way to hold the line.
The luggage stand and wardrobe
The luggage stand in a furnished unit is a crossroads: a guest sets a contaminated bag down, bed bugs walk to the bed frame, and the cycle restarts before checkout.
The kitchenette in a unit
The kitchenette in a ground floor shop sends cockroaches up through pipes and into the flat above; cockroach droppings and the smell of cooked food draw more insects daily from the commercial space below.
Laundry and the waste room
The laundry room and waste area on a shared floor become a meeting point for insects from multiple flats; poor sealing around pipes lets them climb between units easily.
How we work
-
1
Walk the floor, room by room
We start from what the staff reported, open the beds, lift the headboards and check the rooms either side and the ones above and below, then mark each room as affected, adjacent or clear.
-
2
Treatment outside occupied hours
Seams are vacuumed first, then steam or a targeted application goes onto the seams and joints, dust into the frame voids and behind the skirting, and gel bait through the kitchens and service areas. Nothing is broadcast over soft furnishings.
-
3
Sealing, and the operating routine
We close the skirting gap, the pipe penetration and the gap under the service corridor door, then agree with the staff that linen is bagged inside the room itself, and what gets reported the moment it is seen.
-
4
Follow-up, and putting the room back
We come back once the remaining eggs have hatched, read the monitors and open the bed a second time. A room returns to service on the result of that inspection, and the room number and both dates go into the log.
What the hotel and apartment programme includes
-
A recorded room by room inspection
Beds opened, headboards lifted, neighbouring rooms checked, and the state of every room number recorded before anything is applied.
-
Treatment of the beds and seams
Vacuuming, then a targeted application on mattress and base seams, frame joints and behind the skirting, never across the open surfaces of the room.
-
Bait and points in the service areas
Gel bait and numbered monitoring positions through the kitchen, the stores and the service corridors, read and logged on every visit.
-
Drains, laundry and waste
Floor gullies, the grease trap, the laundry and the ground around the containers, because that is the source that renews itself daily.
-
Room release and staff guidance
What is covered and cleared before we go in, the ventilation time we set for each case, and what the staff look for when they strip a bed.
-
A timed follow-up and a room log
A second visit timed to the hatch, monitors read, and a record carrying the room number, the date of each visit and what was found.
What is different about Al Misfalah Sub-Municipality
Al Misfalah sub municipality runs downhill from the south of the Grand Mosque through Al Misfalah, Kudai and Al Rawabi to Al Taqwa, Al Hindawiyah, Al Khalidiyah and Al Rusayfah at the third ring road. The northern end is old apartment blocks and pilgrim hotels with restaurants along Ibrahim Al Khalil Street and the huge coach parks at Kudai. The south and west are dense popular districts with countless small shops and unplanned hillside housing, some of it already cleared for redevelopment, giving way to orderly land grant schemes in Al Rusayfah beside the railway station.
Questions about this district
Is treating one pilgrim's apartment alone enough in Al Misfalah's old building blocks?
No. The two neighbouring flats, the shared stair and the common hall all likely carry bed bugs. Old densely packed blocks let insects travel through walls and old foundations between floors. The neighbouring units and all shared routes must be inspected and treated together with the reported flat.
Does the bed bug infestation come from the restaurant below or from the arriving guest?
Both paths are open. An incoming guest from outside Makkah may carry bed bugs in luggage. The restaurant below sends cockroaches from its kitchen up the building through pipes. One programme linking flat and ground floor together is the only durable answer.
How often should a furnished flat in Al Misfalah be inspected if it stays occupied continuously?
A flat filled without a break needs regular inspection cycles and preventive treatment. Fast guest turnover means a fresh infestation risk arrives weekly. Monthly or two-monthly cycles are the bare minimum; more frequent inspection may be needed if the ground floor business is high-volume.
Must we empty the flat completely or is a quick inspection and spray enough?
Thorough inspection takes time and the furnished flat is usually occupied. The programme must blend full inspection with treatment timed to happen during guest changeover windows, working around occupancy rather than against it.
Does old furniture piled in the furnished flat hide bed bug nymphs and eggs?
Rented or owned furnishings may carry bed bug eggs cemented in seams and crevices. Checking and removing infested pieces is part of treating an older furnished unit. Some furniture may be beyond salvage.
Does the damp in old Al Misfalah foundations make cockroaches and bed bugs worse?
Yes. Blocks along Ibrahim Al Khalil Street lie below grade and their foundations stay damp most of the year. Dampness and cracks offer perfect shelter for bed bugs, cockroaches and ants, and make them harder to reach without damaging the structure.
How much does hotels and apartments in Al Misfalah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Misfalah.
