Mosquito control in Al Awali Makkah
Al Awali is a modern villa district south east of Makkah on raised ground, built in the nineteen nineties to a regular plan along Prince Sultan Road and the Fourth Ring Road. Each villa is enclosed by garden and boundary wall, and drainage here faces a natural challenge: the high ground channels water toward the gaps and low points between villas.

Why they keep coming back in Al Awali
The elevated terrain in Al Awali drains water rapidly in most areas, but the gardens and low lying gaps between villas trap standing water. The method is set out in full on our Mosquito control service.
Villa gardens on high ground that do not drain evenly
Though the district sits on a hill, the level garden beds between villas do not drain water quickly. Regular watering creates small pools in the gaps, and plant shade protects this water from rapid evaporation.
Gaps between villas and surface runoff after watering
The gaps between villas become water channels after heavy rain or watering. Water runs from raised ground through narrow gaps between fences and neighbouring homes, where it collects and remains.
Proximity to Umm Al Qura University and its vast irrigated green spaces
The University lies to the east with extensive irrigated lawns, and mosquitoes fly the short distance to the district, especially in early morning and evening when gardens here offer shade and water.
The character of Al Awali
Villa district: private plots, gardens and a boundary wall to every house
A villa district means each home stands alone with its own garden and boundary wall, so mosquitoes breed freely in every garden without competition. Regular, co ordinated treatment among neighbours is far more effective than isolated efforts.
Standing water and shade decide the method
Al Awali lies south east of the city with the holy sites to the north and Umm Al Qura University to the east, laid out on the high ground that named it and crossed by Prince Sultan Road and the Fourth Ring Road.
The daytime biter
The daytime biter in Al Awali shelters under dense plant foliage in gardens and in the shaded gaps between villas.
The one that comes out after sunset
After sunset mosquitoes activate around villa gardens and green spaces, seeking blood as evening temperatures fall.
Air-conditioning condensate
Air conditioner condensate drains into the gaps and low lying gardens around villas, especially in summer when units run at full capacity.
The tank and its openings
Villa tanks must be tightly covered, and side openings need fine mesh screens to keep mosquitoes out.
Garden containers and irrigation
Villa gardens need regular watering in the dry summer, and excess water from each cycle collects in ornamental pools and the gaps between trees.
The shade it rests in
Shade from tall trees and dense shrubs offers the adult mosquito perfect daytime shelter.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and map the water
We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.
-
2
Remove the water that can go
Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.
-
3
Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces
Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.
What mosquito control includes
-
A recorded water survey
Roof, perimeter, garden, meter chambers and condensate lines, written down before anything is applied.
-
Draining and covering the sources
Emptying what can be emptied, draining what can be drained, and covering what has to stay full.
-
Larval treatment for the water that stays
For ground tanks, inspection chambers, water features and any permanent water that has to remain.
-
A residual on the resting places
Under trees and shrubs, beneath outdoor furniture and on shaded walls, where the adult sits out the day.
-
Aftercare instructions
What stays inverted, what gets covered, which openings need mesh, and when watering goes back to normal.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, with every recorded water point reviewed and re-treated if the water came back.

Questions about this district
Does the elevated terrain of Al Awali reduce mosquito problems compared to other districts?
Elevation may aid general drainage, but gardens and gaps between villas do not benefit from this advantage. Water collects in relative low points, and the district still suffers seasonal water pooling.
Is Wateer Mall or the commercial areas around Al Awali a mosquito source?
Commercial zones may be a minor source but the villas themselves are the main problem. Each villa garden is essentially responsible for its own mosquito population, and treatment should focus on the villas rather than distant commercial centres.
Do the dense tree canopies in Al Awali hold enough stored water to sustain mosquitoes?
Dense plant foliage does hold water droplets from watering, which can sustain mosquitoes in some cases. But standing water in pools and gaps is far more important.
Should Al Awali treatment focus on villa gardens or on the gaps between houses?
Both gardens and gaps matter. Gardens provide water and shade, gaps provide shelter and water pooling. Effective treatment covers all these areas.
Do the Muraykhiyat Hills nearby provide a mosquito refuge from outside the district?
Rocky hills normally do not offer good mosquito habitat. But seasonal wadi channels flowing down from the hills may carry water and moisture into the district.
How often does Al Awali need treatment during the hot dry summer?
Summers in Al Awali are hot and dry, but regular watering creates continuous standing water. Regular treatment perhaps every three weeks may be needed in hot summer.
How much does mosquito control in Al Awali cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Awali.
