Bird and pigeon control in Al Nuzhah Makkah

Al Nuzhah is a mixed quarter of villas, apartment blocks, shops and government offices. The varied rooflines and different facade types create multiple nesting patterns for pigeons. Pigeons use villa rooftops as high perches and shop roofs as nesting sites, moving between both.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Nuzhah

Pigeons concentrate on villa and older building rooftops, with activity increasing near shops and parks where food is readily available. The method is set out in full on Bird and pigeon control in detail.

The first reason

Villas and blocks with varied rooflines

Villas have raised roofs and multiple corners offering shelter and nesting diversity. Apartment blocks have broad flat surfaces. This mix creates different nesting patterns depending on building type.

The second reason

Shops and offices provide easy food

Commercial shops and government offices with open fronts, exposed food and waste offer daily meals. Pigeons return to the same spots with consistency.

The third reason

Parks and open spaces as safe perches

Neighbourhood parks and open ground between villas offer shelter and rest points. Pigeons roost here between daily rounds of roofs and shops.

Moisture is moderate but irrigation systems and air-con condensation provide continuous drinking water.

How we work

  1. 1

Survey the roof and the facade

We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

  2. 2

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

  3. 3

    Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

What bird and pigeon control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded survey

Every ledge, condenser platform and shaft, photographed, with nesting separated from perching before anything is chosen.

  • A metal floor drain

    Nest removal and drain clearing

Lifted wet rather than swept dry, bagged closed, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Parasite treatment and sanitising

The nest position treated for ticks and mites, then the surface the droppings sat on sanitised.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Sealing and fitting the deterrents

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire, spikes or wire on narrow projections, and metal mesh across ventilation openings.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

The condensate water, food left on the roof, and what should not sit beside a ledge if the attraction is to stay gone.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

A follow-up on tension and corners

Netting slackens and corners open over time; the visit corrects that and closes any new position.

What is different about Al Utaybiyah Sub-Municipality

Al Utaybiyah sub municipality covers the old districts north of the Grand Mosque: the hillside quarters of Al Hajun, Al Utaybiyah and Al Bayban, Al Zahir and Al Shuhada at the northern entrance, and the newer Al Zahra, Al Diyafah and An Nuzhah westward. Its building stock is among the oldest in Makkah, stone houses on the hills, packed apartment blocks and sewers decades old, threaded with crowded markets like the Utaybiyah souq and furnished flats that fill in the pilgrim seasons. Wadi Al Zahir and Wadi Al Tanim carry storm water through it, and industrial workshops line Hajj Street.

Questions about this district

Does treating just the villas stop pigeons across the whole quarter?

It may not. Pigeons also nest on blocks and shop roofs. Complete treatment requires surveying all building types.

Why do pigeons prefer villa rooftops to apartment blocks?

Villa roofs are higher and less accessible, with natural ledges and angles. But pigeons use blocks too, especially if near shops with food sources.

Do commercial shops attract different pigeon types?

They may attract birds more tolerant of human activity. Pigeons here are accustomed to people and noise.

Do parks and green spaces worsen the problem?

Parks offer safe shelter but main food comes from shops. Parks are a factor but not the primary cause.

Does sealing shop fronts solve it completely?

It reduces pigeon access but nests on roofs must still be removed. Treatment needs a multi-level approach.

Is seasonal treatment enough for a mixed quarter?

Spring and autumn seasonal treatment is necessary but regular inspection and tight sealing matter more for lasting results.

How much does bird and pigeon control in Al Nuzhah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Nuzhah.
